'Crisis Management in Football'

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the Scottish Professional Football League, talks about his twenty years involvement in the professional game. Using examples of crises that he has had to face in his time as CEO of Norwich City FC and of Scottish football’s senior league, Neil will demonstrate that all is not always as it appears in the world of football.

Event Format

7.00pm - Networking and refreshments
8.00pm - Close

Directions to Leeds University Business School.

About the speaker

A solicitor by training, Neil joined Norwich City in 1997. At the age of 31, he became their youngest ever Chief Executive. In his twelve years at City, the Club re-built its reputation with supporters, with season ticket numbers trebling over the period to 20,000 and the Club receiving a number of awards for community, business development and innovation.

While with Norwich, Neil was elected to the Board of the Football League and subsequently to that of the Football Association.

In 2009 Neil left Norwich City to become the Chief Executive of the Scottish Premier League. In 2013, Neil oversaw the merger of the SPL and the Scottish Football League to form the Scottish Professional Football League – responsible for all 42 senior clubs in Scotland. In July 2013, Neil was appointed as the first Chief Executive of the newly formed SPFL.

Had to laugh at a line in the STV report about this;

"The man who steered the great ship Scottish Football through a sea of uncertainty, and navigated clear of Armageddon, will " demonstrate that all is not always as it appears in the world of football".

Heckle if you like, as long as University of Leeds have done what they can to stop you, nobody will mind."
