Has Anyone Ever Been To Pardubice For The Horse Racing

And if so what's it like?

Pretty tough finding out what the score is with it by searching online but it seems there is a weekend of racing with a warm up to the main event happening on the Saturday before the big Sunday day of racing.

If we decide to go for it I fancy staying in the town as I've done Prague to death so fancy a different town to see something different.

Has anyone stayed there and if so surely there must be decent boozers and a titty bar or two?

And importantly I would imagine a beer must be pretty cheap no?

I stayed in Pardubice for a few days presenting a training course there.

Was fairly unimpressive as a place. A few bits downtown but lots of aspects to make you feel you were in Airdrie or Luton or Slough or similar.

A few bars downtown and some hotel chains. Quite sure you would find titty bars if that is what you were after.

This is right in the Czech industrial hinterland dont forget so dont be expecting much in the way of tourism or quality stuff.

I would not be looking to book a family holiday in this town or even region, thats for sure!!

Oh, and dont forget that the drive from Prague is highly unimpressive - dull motorway half the way then farmland and dingy towns the rest of the way. Your SatNav may well cause you issues. It did for me as the 'up to date' maps I downloaded were so incomplete and inaccurate that I ended up buying a paper map!

Sorry to paint such a negative about the place.

Cheers, Prague stay it looks like then and train out to the races will only take around an hour it looks like. Twice in the space of a couple of months for me in Prague so that's why I was keen on stopping elsewhere but if it's crap then we'll take a look at our plans. 4 Blokes so not bothered about anything family wise mind.
