phart
"...The Department for Work and Pensions was forced to admit it had made up comments from supposed "benefit claimants" earlier this week. The fake quotes appeared on leaflets that offered 'case studies' of people who had apparently been helped by the strict new benefit sanctions system introduced by Mr Duncan Smith under the Coalition Government..." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/iain-duncan-smith-faces-calls-to-quit-over-fake-quotes-scandal-10466068.html Obviously no mention of sanctions on all the Corporate benefits which is orders of magnitude larger than social. iainmac1
This came out last week. Not much of a big deal has been made of it. The quotes were ridiculous as well. Along the lines of "my benefits were sanctioned for 4 weeks...it's the best thing that's happened to me." Stapes
At some point in the future the establishment might, just might, realise that social media is not just daft schoolboys typing abuse into a computer, while the rest of the country goes on as before. The world has changed and to a great extent social media has driven that change. They can no longer feed us the cr@p they've fed us for decades. 15 years ago it's unlikely this would have been picked up. Only the press had the capacity to do that and they're far too compliant. More Yogi and BooBoo than Woodward and Bernstein.
hunchy
They were talking about it on the last leg last night and totally ripping into DWP. They were saying that something like 80% of people sanctioned were wrongly sanctioned including a guy who was got a 9 week sanction for missing an appointment at the job centre. The reason he missed the appointment was due to him being rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack.

This is what Noam Chomsky was on about in his propaganda interview with Andrew Marr The mainstream media will touch on these issues on late night programmes that only a few people watch or they will have a wee bit on it on page 12 of the newspapers whereas if it really was a free press it would be headline news rather than a story of too many photos being taken of the Royal baby Edited August 22, 2015 by Ally Bongo

That the reason Saddam chucked out inspectors was it was full of military personnel spying and picking targets and not inspecting etc etc.
scotlad
Not so long ago any government minister whose department was responsible for a debacle like this would be under serious pressure to resign. IDS, on the other hand, appears to be bombproof. The whole thing is embarrassing and will only erode public trust in DWP even further. In truth, these 'quotes' were most probably the work of some consultant, who has no doubt long since ridden off into the sunset with a large cheque in his or her back pocket. The only good to come out of it is some funny Twitter piss takes - my favourite is the Walter White one!
