Warning: Caution On Ssc Membership

My son and I booked to go to Germany on 18 March, flights and hotels in Dusseldorf & Dortmund all paid for. We were both on 3 points so managed to secure “away end” tickets through the SFA.

Due to a family bereavement we were both unable to attend the game and I did advertise what was available on the TAMB i.e. flights, hotels accommodation and match tickets. I was able to sell on the accommodation in Dortmund (thanks to Willie from Dunfermline) and the match tickets to Louise from Livingston.

My point is that after I posted on the TAMB I was hounded by the SFA by way of texts and emails demanding I must return my match tickets. Sorry SFA but I was arranging a funeral and comforting my wife who had lost her mum and my kids who had lost their gran. It got to the stage that I stupidly replied back to the SFA saying I was going to the game and they replied my son and I would need to make ourselves known to the SFA in Dortmund.

On Tuesday after the game I received an email form Anne Marie Bannon Customers Service Manager saying I wouldn’t receive my away point as I never made personal representation in Dortmund.

I put in writing my disappointment and would they consider the circumstances surrounding my and son’s non attendance. I provided conformation emails of flights and accommodation and the amount of money I had paid out and subsequently lost…...£340.00

I received a reply from Anne Marie Bannon within 48 hours and was astounded by what she had written. I quote “I am disappointed to note that the tickets allocated to you were sold on”. Because of this I have a caution placed on my membership and my son’s membership for 12 months with the threat of membership being terminated. There wasn’t any compassion or sympathy shown despite being a SSC Member for 19 years.

I accept my honesty has been my downfall after all I could of used any other mobile number on the original post than my own and the SFA could not trace me. I do accept that I did not attend the game and am I due the away point….open for discussion…I can see arguments from both sides….to have an official caution put on my and my sons membership….totally out of order.

I spoke directly to Anne Marie for around 40 minutes on the phone and she is adamant her original decision stands. I have subsequently wrote to her line manager David Thomson, Commercial Director nearly 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting on a reply from him.

It’s great to think the SFA have plenty of time to scroll through social media websites investigating anyone breaking the Terms & Conditions of SSC Membership.

I know there are plenty chancers who are at it with tickets sometimes but you certainly don't sound like one. I think the SFA handled it terribly, especially with the wording in their letter after knowing the full facts. I think that was extremely heartless on their part. Sorry about your loss.

No way should you receive a point if you did not attend the game. You were unlucky to get caught but SFA are doing right by involving themselves on the ta board and targeting points harvesters. You quite clearly are not a points harvester but you also know the consequences of selling on a ticket regardless of the circumstances.

Pish!

A bit of common sense should have been applied.

I returned my match tickets after work commitment meant me and my bro had to pull out of going to Dortmund... SSC said they would sell them on and issue a refund... No refund to date, bet they sold them on though. Robbing c**ts. Thats the last time I will do the honest thing if they cant show the same respect I showed them.

The ssc should have contacted you to ask what the story let you explain and then deal with it with the info. by then telling them you did plan to go when not you will not get your point and or will they take your caution of your membership imo.

Doubt you will hear from the line manager. these people have no interest in us.

would they have refunded you three days b4 the game if you had not sold them on? , also were they sold to other ssc members who then should be awarded the point mmm I dinny think so. but its ok for ssc to sell no show tickets to non ssc ppl on day off games though. double standards me thinks. shame though as if you and your family did not have enough to put up with without this hassel. my deepest sympathy to you and your .family at this time.

While I sympathise with your situation, you broke club rules by selling on the tickets. You should have returned them to the SSC for them to be passed on to another member. At the end of the day, you have only been given a warning, and I dont think you will be doing it again, so nothing lost, apart from the money.

Beever1745 will be along shortly utterly disgusted with this sensible post.

Aye.

Deep condolences and all that.

But you could have - and perhaps should have - just returned your match tickets.

I did same many years ago, for a lot less serious reason I have to say, for a friendly match in Austria.

I was told that I wouldn't receive a point - fair enough. Neither would I be refunded the price.

So, whilst your non-attendance reason was genuine, you chose to sell the tickets on. That's a no-no.

Nonsense. There's a time and a place for being inflexible and this wasn't it.

Scott had way more important things to deal with than abiding by SFA's 'rules' as is clear from his post.

I know from direct experience of a similar situation in 2007 that was wonderfully handled by Alison Jack.

The SFA under Regan just do not do sensible.

Although it was a different scenario, I too have had a less-than-friendly call from the SSC in the past about something I posted on here. They do monitor the TAMB, something which doesn't quite sit right with me. It has certainly made me more reluctant to post my opinion on here.

Forgive me, but how did they manage to identify you?
