There may well be a referendum, but people won't vote to leave. Nicola's playing a clever game though. It's important to keep on make people realising that the interests of Scotland do not always run concurrently with the interests of the UK. After 5 years with a similar number of young voters coming onto the electoral register it fair changes the demographic.... Especially when you consider we were only 192k short of the line...... You possibly read that in a Lord Ashcroft poll done shortly after the referendum which looked at age and gender of voters. Out of all the facts and figures from the vote that was the one that really got to me, especially as I know a lot of 16 and 15 year olds who were unable to vote but supported Yes. Rather than thinking about the replacement of elderly with youth, we should be looking to increase the penetration of social media and alternative news outlets to those whose only version of the truth is delivered by the BBC, Record and Daily Mail. The over 65s cannot be 'blamed' for the result.... mainly the Yes campaign and the media carry responsibility for how things could have been different. However there is a stubborn and inbuilt loyalty in that large demographic which is historical and cultural and which was formed in the post war period up to the 70s. This is both political and one of identity. Losing quarter of a million people who have those stubborn and immovable attitudes changes the game significantly. no intention to be morbid but it can't simply be dismissed..... many of them will be deid.
