  1. Stay but the honeymoon is certainly over. Shame our venture with 'exotic' managers failed so terribly with Berti. I do miss Levien's attention to the bigger picture in Scotland. But the difference in the actual squad and performance is night and day. Granted results haven't helped. But do you think Scotland under Strachan would have pipped Cezch Rep. - I think so. Do you think we'd have pipped Croatia? We would have competed... but probably not. Scotland have to maintain the best we form available, and we will qualify for a tournament eventually, but nothing can be taken for granted, like so many fans did this campaign. Either that or the SFA need to really rip up the current format for Scotland. Look at the state of our national league right now, over the past five years we've had some serious problems from clubs (Rangers, Hearts, Hibs) which are generally supplying the national side, albeit brought upon themselves. But when they clean their act up and stabalise (which looks like they are doing) then we will get a little boost. Granted we wont do an Iceland without serious reform, but it's a difficult time to be a scottish football fan.
  2. Think some people are over estimating the impact they personally have on the success of the nation. I'd rather be able to celebrate defeat once in a while than be dependent on Scotland winning for my fun. Plus you're much more likely to get kid's to play the game if Scotland is looked at positively rather than just focusing on the doom and gloom. So in away celebrating failure is more likely to be connected to eventual success than, making a stand against people having the audacity to have fun, irregardless of one teams inability to kick a ball into a net.
  3. Nice rewriting of history... Assist vs N. Ireland, where his delivery was the difference in a tight game Scored the winning goal vs. Qatar when Scotland was playing poor Subbed vs Gibraltar to change the system, from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2. Personally I would have changed Maloney on open play performance, but Maloney was scoring. Granted I wasn't pleased with his performance vs Ireland away, but he wasn't the worst performer, and wasn't targeted in the aftermath as the cause of that performance. He's just the guy that's easy to swap out with other players. Played well when he came on vs germany. Still think some fans have less patience with Richie compared with Forrest ,whose been given a so many chances, for one reason...
  4. Ritchie, I can't understand why anyone supports Forrest as a first pick. He's been terrible consistently for Scotland, and on the celtic games I've seen (granted few) been just as terrible. Like really bad. Like efe ambrose bad. Richie however, is in immense club form. Scoring an amazing goal for Bournemouth immediatly after our terrible defeat to Georgia, making me wonder if why that potential goal was on the bench. (hindsight is awesome...) Granted he's never been a stand out player when playing for Scotland, but he's never been bad, and his corner kicks are a class above Maloney's. The only reason I can see for even thinking Forrest is worth comparing to Richie is 1. Strachan's love affair with Forrest. 2. Anglophobia. 5. hate to quote the rag but: REgan gets £280,425 for what seems to me like a part-time job. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sfa-boss-stewart-regan-awarded-1910088
  6. where does the money SFA generate for games go? SFA must have raised about 2 million from the Germany game before TV revenue.
  7. It's hard to motivate yourself to remain a loyal attender of games, when the SFA act the way they do. I can take the the price (which is high to justify to the wife, or would be nice to see where it goes) or the current success rate (as I've never known any better and I love watching Scotland no matter what). It's hard because it's too difficult to attend games without taking holidays from work. It's not hard for the SFA to fix, I remember the commonwealth was fantastic to get to. Also, last night was the best match day experience I've seen at Hampden in a while, where they have tried to raise the atmosphere, but besides that, it's all adverts and Rory the ing lion on a motorbike selling crap. This was the first half time in a -long- time, that I didn't question the point of sacrificing one or two days for a home game that I could much easier watch from home. But one out of how many home games in the last how many years...
  8. Between Morrison and McArthur for me. Though Morrison was lucky to stay on the park, the ref was really nice to us think he appreciated how difficult it is to land a clean tackle on a German. So maybe the Ref, for keeping the game exciting. I think if Ritchie had started a head of Forrest things might have been different. That kid is going to start getting a really hard time from the fans if he continues to start without merit.
  9. There is something about James Forrest that makes me miss the final games of Kenny Millers Scotland career.
  10. urgh... when people try get picky with historical significance... "Don't want the lion rampant, because it's a royal flag... but that symbol of a christian martyr who never knew Scotland existed, that's the perfect reflection of my nationality." I know the story of both the saltire and the lion rampant, so no need to retort with historical cherry picking. Imo Scotland has two flags. One that is our national identity flag, world recognised. And another that has been used for all modern history in Scotland by anyone in Scotland, in particular Scottish football fans. (personally I see it as a symbol of Scotland's self governance given it's association with Robert the Bruce, and the line of Scottish kings.)
  11. where was it announced? couldn't find it on bbc or google?
  12. nevermind, I clicked on him and I can see it was Germany. Forgot about that, all I remember is Muller should have been sent off.
  13. I'm drawing a blank... when did Mulgrew get sent off?
  14. I typically think that way. But he's played in all our best performances in this campaign. eg. Poland, Germany away, Ireland at home.
  15. Plenty of players have had a questionable attitude at a younger age and eventually became strong members of the Scotland team. Most of his decision we're probably heavily influenced by agents. Possibly a good opportunity to wipe the slate clean and see how he gets on at Hibs given he's only 19.
