  1. Looks like Turnbull had another poor game for Cardiff, losing 5-2 to bottom of the league. There was a wide open space for him in the squad but don’t see how he can justify a place. Disappointing that Conway and McCrorie also don’t seem to have played well in their final game. Both off at 57 mins after going 4-0 down. They’ve both got a chance of call ups too.
  2. Is there not more chance of getting spare (or at least, cheaper) tickets from people when you’re actually there? I would imagine that these ticombo tickets will also become cheaper a day before the game/hours before because the seller will be desperate? Am I talking shite or does anyone have experience of this?
  3. I would probably have Forrest in my squad. But he’d only be bench option, which isn’t ideal. Would be nice to have a fully fit, match sharp, 90minute player in this position in the squad. Especially given that Armstrong (if he makes it) will only just be back from injury, potential for more injuries, and the fact we’ll be playing 3 games in quick succession. Hopefully Ryan Fraser starts and impresses in Southampton’s final games to give us another option.
  4. Fair enough, respect your opinion. Although, we should have won that game with or without McGinn, and helping someone like Ferguson integrate with the team benefits the whole squad. McGinn is going to end up being one of the most played players in Europe by the end of the season.
  5. He could predict that there would potentially be injuries at the end of a season. He always picks small squads and doesn’t always replace players that pull out. I get that he wants a tight knit squad but one or two additions would have helped. He also doesn’t tend to give newer players a chance, eg not starting Ferguson against Northern Ireland. Playing McGinn against them had little benefit, imagine it was him that was injured instead of Ferguson.
  6. Yeah this seems like a pretty obvious mistake from Clarke. Maybe he would have called up more if he knew it would have been a 26 man squad though?
  7. He didn’t deserve to be capped before Steve Clarke was manager. He’s been worth a few caps from 2020 onwards. Even then, Strachan did call him up (assume for experience) in 2014, but didn’t cap him. Im also only suggesting him as part of a 26 man squad with injuries or for friendlies/low risk games with the potential to integrate him in. 28 is definitely still young enough to bring someone in (someone like Hartley is a good example of an older call up). I’d also agree that Barron is a good shout and potentially Doak if he was fit. Wouldn’t like to see someone like Ryan Jack called up as a squad player instead of Barron for example.
  8. He scored 8 in 38 games as an 18 year old in Scotland. He scored 12 last season and 8 the season before so your mortgage wouldn’t be very safe. Regardless, he’s an attacking midfielder who shouldn’t be judged by the number of goals that he scores.
  9. I think there’s far more of chance of him picking Turnbull, Forrest and possibly Ryan Jack (if he’s fit) as replacement/additional midfielders rather than Gauld. Although I think he will pick Tommy Conway considering he asked him to train with the senior team previously. Clarke loves to be loyal to keep the club mentality. Can only see Gauld being a popular call up with the players though, he was childhood mates with Souttar and was close to Robertson (and Armstrong?) at Dundee United. He must have played under 21s with a lot of the current squad too. I can’t imagine call ups for Elliot Anderson or Ryan Fraser being popular due to issues with their last call ups. Or Cairney as a 33 year old with patchy form or Turnbull with almost no form.
  10. Ten Hag’s quote after the game was: We have to assess this, to set the diagnosis," said Ten Hag. "I don't know in this moment to return [against Crystal Palace next month], I think it's a little bit too quick turnaround. "You have seen he has a problem. We have to diagnose this and see what it is." So it wasn’t instant, bad news. But could easily be after he’s been assessed.
  11. I think Fraser has a strong chance, although he’s not been starting for Southampton recently (apart from this weekend) or assisting/scoring. Not sure if there’s any lingering hostility between him and Clarke too.
  12. Yeah he always looks classy on the ball but doesn’t seem to be a Steve Clarke type player. Lewis Morgan scored again for New York Red Bulls last night. Has to be in with a shout of a squad place. I think Clarke has selected before whilst he wasn’t playing well for Celtic. Seems like Gauld played well against him too.
  13. Struggling to get a regular game for Palermo in Serie B. Miles off the squad.
  14. Knee injury apparently...can't get a break
