Shed_Tartan_Army_Yeah
UFC owner gave his explaination of why so many people like it: "On a playing field, in 4 different corners, groups of people are playing 4 different sports: basketball, football, baseball and tennis. All of a sudden on the field a fight breaks out. What happens? Everyone watches the fight." Same situation in a stadium or in a crowded street or nightclub etc. No matter how many people think its barbaric and dissaprove, people will still watch. hunchy
In some ways boxing is more brutal as its about nocking your opponent out but iirc a boxing match can be stopped by a fighter getting too bad a cut where as I think ufc just carries on. When they start flinging the elbows that's when you can get some very bad cuts opening up. I think in average I see more blood in ufc than boxing
thplinth
Love a good fight and Rousey v Holms was a good fight. Massive underdog hands out a surprise beating to an arrogant champion in style. Nothing against Rhonda but Holly was brilliant on the night. Couple of up for it fighters giving it laldy is superb competition. Watching street violence or people bullying others is however sickening. It has its place and could be the oldest 'sport'.
McExpat
I like UFC much more than I do boxing. Boxing has been corrupt for years. UFC is doing it's utmost to keep it far away from the things that have let boxing down and all too often made it boring to watch. As for the women fighting, it's not something I like the thought of, nor do i watch their contests yet I believe they have as much right as men do to enter the sport. To prevent them would be unfair and an unjust restriction of their rights.

sbcmfc
I much prefer the divas division in wwe. My wife watches E! A fair bit, and that show is on a lot. Fortunate quirk for the marketers that they all look like glamour models. Especially given the main audience for WWE is boys and grown men that live with their mum.... Apparently one of them is Ric Flairs daughter, dunno if that's true or not. And the undertaker is back, the bairn tried to explain to me who he was,I had to tell him that I knew,I watched his debut 25 years ago. I'm sure there was a strong suspicion they had switched out the undertaker in the early 90s. He'll be the triggers brush of wrestling. The Sara tattoo on his neck struck a bell with me and after loads of googling pictures,I still have no idea

Fair play to him if it is the same guy he has been going for ever. Think he can be classed as a wrestling icon for sure

phart
free watch here http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b61_1448124439 Pretty comprehensive on a decent viewing. Rhonda does have power but she got her head boxed off. she got her clinch neutralised which took away her who strategy, then looked like she didn't know how to box a southpaw, look at their feet, Holly steps outside of rondas lead foot by miles, thats whats enabling her to get outside Rondas jab(letting it go past the left side of her head) and then fire the left, in fact she led with the left. The whole key to that though was neutralising the clinch, by keeping her right arm inside ronda and not round her waist (like everyone else does) keeping low and actually being bigger and longer than Ronda. Holly was so well coached and prepared for this fight, and Ronda wasn't. Believed her own hype. Holly knew every single situation she would be in, and drilled escapes and techniques to limit her danger. Folk forget Ronda's last opponent who she knocked out only started training MMA 4 years ago to lose weight, she was an accountant. Obviously had natural aptitude for it to get so far in 4 years. You can only learn so much though. Even the 2nd Meisha fight, Tate just kept running into the clinch. Ronda's Team got Sun sun tzu'd by Holly's Team. thplinth
Aye was also very impressed with Holms' movement. She fought a really clever fight on pretty much every level. She also looked fitter quite a bit so. It did not help Rhonda (fitness wise) getting her face punched so much but still she looked really fukked after the 1st round. Fair enough just thinking of times I've seen boxing stopped compared to ufc fights and ufc to me seems to let fights go with worse cuts. Wonder if ufc is more relaxed on the cut rule compared to other mma fights

It's changed days since folk were volleying people's heads in PRIDE... Sadly

Sadly I'm no expert but i think doping might have been a bit of a problem too nae elbows though, Not sure i would bring back "soccer kicks to a downed opponent" but yellow card and 10 minute first round are good ideas. thplinth
Was the Aldo boy not the pound for pound No 1 ranked UFC fighter?
