King Of Paisley
Interesting comment below taking from the Referendum Live feed on the BBC website. Like in the UK election where it has often been claimed that 'Basildon man' is often a clear signal of how that election is going to go, given that Glasgow is the largest city in the county, then if as I expect Glasgow votes Yes then is this a clear signal of how the result is going to pan out? Tom Gordon from the Sunday Herald told the BBC that the city of Glasgow was crucial to the independence vote. He said: "It has long been said that the road to independence runs through Glasgow and that's for a number of reasons. "One in nine voters in Scotland lives in this city and there are two other big groups of people - Labour supporters and people who just don't vote, there were five constituencies in Scotland where turnout was below 40% and they were all in Glasgow. "So if the Yes campaign can crack Glasgow, if it can convert Labour supporters and motivate non-voters, they are probably on to a winning formula for the rest of Scotland as well." Baz
From what I've seen glasgow will be a massive yes!
biffer
it's hardly going to be a barometer though - it's scheduled to be about five a.m., so basically it'll be the clincher.
Duncan Blackheart
Fife vote I reckon = barometer.
giblet
I've got Glasgow at 55/45 which gives YES 40K additional votes to NO. Yes will need this kind of result in Glasgow. Agree with Duncan, Fife is crucial, third biggest voter registration area.
Kirk
Glasgow will be Yes don't have any doubts.

brant grebner
It's split, but there is a big Yes vote here.
fraz65
Would it not be more accurate to go with opinion polls rather than "what you've seen"?
Flora MaDonald
That wee weeji who was shouting and bawling with his loud hailer on Sunday and last night is the most passionate man I've ever seen.
HIGHTOWER 1314
Fife is dodgy one in my book. I stay in kirkcaldy and if the amount of flags, posters etc hanging from folks windows are anything to go by then kirkcaldy will win the vote themselves.Thats just in the areas i have seen so cant speak for others or the ones not showing anything but it is impressive. One woman has her whole house covered in saltires, posters etc and when a scaffold was put up she moved all said flags etc and tied them to the scaffold. In fact it wouldnt surprise me if she hired the scaffold herself

Padre Andrew
Heard today that a colleague of mine who's been a member of the Kirkcaldy constituency Labour party for 40 years has just resigned in disgust. We all know SNP membership is rocketing; any other stories of Labour losing members?

EddardStark
Yes campaign or SNP sold Labour policies to win the Glasgow vote. Now they will have to deliver Labour policies in elections.

TartanJon
Yes campaign or SNP sold Labour policies to win the Glasgow vote. Now they will have to deliver Labour policies in elections. I'd prefer them to be a bit more left wing than Labour

Betty
I believe that they had 389 resign and 17 join in the last week. From a couple of pms and posts on fb.
Auld_Reekie
Some high profile Labour members need to start growing a backbone. If there are MSPs or MPs out there who voted Yes but feared coming out, they need to man up. Henry McLeish is another - very disappointed he didn't commit to Yes in the end. What exactly is it he's staying with the Labour party for? I don't honestly think he believes in his party or the UK and it's about time people like him stepped up to the plate and started working toward a better country now. I cant believe we've went this entire campaign and haven't had one public declaration from a Lab/Tory/LibDem MSP or MP.
Toepoke
It'll be interesting to see Henry's opinion if the most ambitious plans for Scotland within the UK are now drawn up by the SNP...
