sub50
This is a major development but I am sure it will get little coverage. If this was a different issue the BBC would be phoning every constituency office asking for an off the record count about the matter. Nothing of any substance will get through parliament, though I suspect he three amigos knew that and really do not care.
exile
This is a major development but I am sure it will get little coverage. But it's an issue down south so they are happy to stir things on that front - and quote the John Redwoods of the world [From another thread] Lord Barnett of Formula calls for Barnett formula to be scrapped http://www.telegraph...ett-admits.html "My funding formula for Scotland is a 'terrible mistake', Lord Barnett admits" and Christopher Chope, a Tory MP, warned that Parliament has stopped similar deals before. He told BBC Radio 4's the World At One: "I certainly think that the people in Scotland should recognise that this is a pledge, in inverted commas, by party leaders, but that is not a guarantee that that would be implemented in the United Kingdom parliament. and Party leaders face fury of MPs over pledge to keep extra funding for Scotland http://www.standard....sh-9735431.html and a 'bloodbath' quote somewhere Edited September 16, 2014 by exile
George Saint
The comments by Christopher Chope blow completely out of the water the promises being made by Cameron and Brown etc. They simply cannot be certain they can deliver the things they are promising. And it's not being said by just anyone - it's being said by an MP who will be asked to vote on it.
George Saint
"These announcements are expressions of opinion by the leaders of parties, obviously they carry some influence. But dont lets kid ourselves that weve abandoned our parliamentary democracy." Christopher Chope
