Parklife
They could afford to pay players £800/wk so they offered them £800. Should they have offered more money than they could afford and risked dying like Rangers?
shaggycoo
Which is £40k a year for playing football, hardly shabby
Toepoke
Poor show from all parties. The players shouldn't be going public with stuff like that, and the club should have simply released them rather than offer two club legends money they would likely reject. Charlie Endell
Which is £40k a year for playing football, hardly shabby£40k isn't a great salary - if they take home £2.5k a month (approx.) they're not exactly going to be rolling in it after they've paid the rent (and they'll probably want to live somewhere decent) and other expenses (car, food, gas and electricity). It's a short career - they need to maximise their earnings - clubs in The National League will pay more (in some cases no doubt quite a lot more). So they can reject it and get a better deal elsewhere. Killie felt these guys were worth £40k. That's about £10k for every good game Eremenko will have and £40k for every good game Pacali has. adamntg
I'd been told the offer was more like £500 a week, so £800 sounds pretty good.
sbcmfc
I'd imagine it comes with perks too? I know motherwell were paying pretty good bonuses the years we were 2nd (which they weren't really getting back in increased attendances or prize money). I think they also help players with accommodation if they're relocating. I'd rather Motherwell offered £800 a week to good players than not make them an offer at all. I think Stuart mccall was guilty of just presuming guys were leaving and not even trying to keep them. Motherwell used to pay folk £6,7 or 8 grand a week depending on what you believe, and look where that got us!

MJ hated Pasca and seemingly took great satisfaction in offering him something that was less than half what he was on. We'll be paying boyd more than that but the club were taking piss out Pasca. Poor form but not unexpected from that ginger Ayr no mark.
Squirrelhumper
That said, unlike some we will pay what we can afford. I'm happy with that. Just not the way it's been handled.

A hybrid of the two. During his first spell he was probably the best player I'd seen for us after Durrant.
Scunnered
I'm perfectly happy with the club setting a wage limit of £800, which does seem to be the case as you'd expect Eremenko and long term players to be on the upper scale... That said Eremenko of last season isn't worth being on the upper scale of your clubs payroll, and Pascali has shown good loyalty of the club, but lets be honest you could pick a multitude of better players from Premiership level and several from Championship for his role. I'd be more concerned if players like Boyd were being given preferential treatment on wages.
Squirrelhumper
Our wage limit isn't £800 (or anything like it) Boyd will be on double that. At least

In recent Killie history he's very much a legendary player. Not a lot of competition there admittedly...

Shotts56
Probably about right I would imagine. No idea what Accies players get now, but I do know an experienced, established first team regular who was offered £17,500 a year to sign on again when his contract expired the last time we we relegated from the Premier League. He unsurprisingly rejected it and is now playing first team football in the USA. Killie offering to pay £40k a year to a couple of good players seems about right to me. I don't know what people expect Scottish football clubs pay, it's absolutely nothing like what it was 10/15 years ago.

When Duncan Shearer came back to Aberdeen as assistant manager he said he was on £7,000 per week in his playing days at Aberdeen, yet most the Aberdeen squad when he came back were barely on £1,000 a week. He said that was crazy money he was on.

We do pay more than that though -MJ was taking piss as him and Pasca hated each other. Boyd, Higginbotham are well into 4 figures a week. Pasca was on 2k a week on his old contract. Eremenko would have been similar although I hear QTS funded some of it.
hunchy
Know for a fact that the boy sadlier was on double that last season. His mum is a midwife here and she was asking me if that was good for a Scottish club. Def seems to me that pasca and eremenko have had the pish taken which is making me loose faith in killie
Kirk
Which is £40k a year for playing football, hardly shabby Its not, but if they were getting a substantial amount more then it is pretty poor from the club, they could have offered less but been reasonable about it. From the sounds of the folk who know more than me, it was more a case of getting two high earners off the spending. Plus neither of them are fantastic anyway. Poor show from all parties. The players shouldn't be going public with stuff like that, and the club should have simply released them rather than offer two club legends money they would likely reject. Aye they shouldnt be putting it out on social media, but that is the danger of social media of course.
