Alton Towers is a great day out for the family.

Mid-week is better to do imo as every weekend is rammed busy.

Get there early, you can get in half an hour before the rides start so get the main ones done early.

Loads of accommodation nearby, go on booking.com :ok:

Keep your shoelaces tied and have a wee sports bag with a zip to put anything like sunglasses etc in.

Enjoy :ok:

Went yesterday and has an absolute ball again.

Most of the big rides like Air, you have to be 1.2 to 1.4 minimum height so depending on the kids heights, then they may struggle to get on them. They are quite strict.

Get there early enough and do the big rides before the crowds get in.

The castle is lovely to walk around inside, it has a ride called Hex which my wee man loved.

You can take food in so unless you want to pay big prices for very average food, I suggest a packed lunch. There is a large grass area next to the boats and swan lake that is lovely on a nice day.

Don't get the re-fillable drinks at a fiver a go. The juice is awful. Not once did we enjoy it and no way any of it was real Coke, Fanta, etc.

You should have a great day and if the weather is nice, then all the better.

There is a little village about 1-2 miles away called Alton. We stopped for a meal in a pub called the Royal Oak on Cheadle Road. Superb :ok:

Saturday 11th July, didn't think it was busy had fast track for some of the rides & didn't wait that long. There were a few foreign student groups but not as many families as we expected - think the engerlish schools didn't break up till the week after.

Sunday 12th July ,even quieter than the day before , had fast track for all the big rides & would do the same again even if it was quiet, this time we worked out what rides we fancied & worked our way round anti clockwise & seemed to get more done than the previous day.

You could return the next day for £10 or for another day up to November for £15 but you need to show your entry ticket - which is a good deal ( our tickets were £37 )

We had fast track parking ( think we paid £16 no sure though )but don't know how busy the main car park was or how far away from the entrance is - don't know if it was worth it but its a minute walk to the entrance & seemed quicker when leaving.

Get the app for your phone as there's lots of % offers on food & such
