It's between Vilamoura and Albufeira and I'm hoping to get bus to match rather than hiring a car/taxi.....anyone?

VTA
I am in olhos now on hols. Been coming here for years as my chill out holiday away from the ta trips. Seems very weird that the two will combine in October. Very quiet wee place but lovely. Not a party place but if you plan on doing a mr and mrs hol and take in the game you should have a nice time. Any questions let me know.
Andy North Croy
VTA - Where's best value car hire and places to visit? Is it a good idea to drive to Spain for the day, if so, where is decent for family?
Argentina78
You should visit Seville Andy, a fabulous place and well worth a visit if your hiring a car.?
VTA
Suppose it's what you are after Andy. There are local car hire places which seem to offer better deals than the major ones at airport so you could get a package holiday, take your transfer and hire something for a few days for what you need eg in olhos today place offering 5 days for 3 price, vw golf etc. But did think tyres were a bit worn tbh and wondered how well maintained they were so maybe the main companies at airport would be more safe and depending on car probs make little difference in cost. Olhos has only 3 big hotels, porto bay, riu guarana and the sensimar falesia ( just changed from a riu adults to a tui all inclusive). The riu guarana is the main family hotel and think it's all inclusive, hear plenty kids there on the way home. They are very nice hotels. Lots of apartments in town also offering varying things depending on your wish. I am coming back to the sensimar for the week and going to go to faro for a football break in the middle so to speak. Wife is concerned at potential scottish contingent affecting her peace....I think it could be hilarious in an all inclusive hotel...well hilarious is one possibility. Olhos and area has extensive brilliant beaches but possibly limited if your kids are older. Easy to get to bigger places like vilamoura or albufeira. There are water parks, zoos etc in the area (lots of golf if that's your thing). Never been here later than September so not sure how the season is after that but guess it's winding down a bit (probs not as much as much as Rimini was before the San Marino game though so other people will be around not just TA in a resort!) eating out, drinking and that can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. Popped into a nice bar for a quick pint and sandwich and was 1 euro for a pint of sagres and 1.50 for my tuna sandwich in happy hour which seemed most of afternoon. Ridiculous really. Think the all inclusive hotels are killing local bars etc. I hardly move when I am here so not so sure about trips around but the whole algarve is in easy reach with car really offering shopping, beaches etc. Seville is obviously a pos Spanish destination. VTA
I've only walked around that apartment complex Andy but it's in the the same small area as the 3 hotels I mentioned. It looks pretty much the same standard really which is very good. 10 minute walk to beachfront. I can't imagine you will have any problems. Reading some of the tripadvisor reviews of the hotels I've stayed in you do wonder what people really expect. Seems to me that the people in Portugal are dead keen on having jobs and trying to do them well so any grumbles really are minor. There is also a decent supermarket about 15 mins walk if you really need anything outside your ai deal. The town is pretty small really and not very geared up to youth but equally outside the adult hotels it seems ultra children friendly in bars etc. The bar and sandwich thing I mentioned is in the sports bar down the front which does everything inc food, drinks, ice cream, all football on tv etc really well.
