I remember him playing for Falkirk and Motherwell, did he not have a spell at celtic park aswell ?

Aberdeen have a habit of poaching our coaching staff Craig Brown and Mark McGhee, who both had relative success at Fir Park compared to Marshall.

Both Brown and McGhee had little success up north.

Erm he played for Killie for years. You signed him from us.

He played for Celtic 91-98 and Killie 98-03.

Our 'keepers have suffered from the same deficiency for years. They're weak in crowded penalty areas and either:

1. Stand rooted to their line and scared to come for crosses; or

2. Come for crosses and make a total arse of it.

Scott Brown and Langfield are both good shot stoppers. If Marshall can help them improve on cross balls, it'll make us a better side.

Don't hold your breath for that one Parklife. If anything that seems to be one of his main failings as our coach.

That doesn't sounds too positive! We need a keeper with presence, who is more imposing in the box and willing to leave the safety of the 6 yarder. Langfield tried coming off his line a bit more in a couple of games last season but simply just came when he shouldn't have a didn't when he should. It was actually funny to watch..... We had a sort of "It's a Knock Out Style" go, no don't, now go, oh feck, thing going on.

Agree

Even question the need for the role

Keepers cannot be expected to do the same drills as outfield players.

Specialised position needs specialist coaching and training.

Without doubt the boys I have seen watching my kids play who have been to goalkeeping courses improve very quickly to a standard that doesn't happen without that intervention.

What I do find amusing is folk equating the standard of goalkeeping coaching to how they rated said keeper as a player. Loads of examples of managers/coaches who were average at best but are top managers/coaches.

Game has moved on since then.

Next you'll be advocating running up and down Gullane dunes for pre season. :D

Our keepers haven't moved on tho.....

Seaton park and beach were good enough training to take on Europes finest

Theres a lot of brainwashing today with need for bowling lawns ; defensive coaches ; academies etc

Give me 5 a side in Pittodrie car park any day

Only seen Brown once and was very impressed with him I must say. Think it was the game you got beat 1-0 from Celtic. A few decent stops if I recall correctly?
