Kittymeister
Mrs Meister and I are off to Manchester at the end of October for the weekend. Anybody got any suggestions for things to do and see and where's best to eat and drink. Thanks

Kittymeister
Thanks. Staying in Salford Quays but the transport system looks pretty good Considered the National Football Museum but a bit concerned that it is a bit 1966 orientated. Is Chinatown worth a visit? sporranmaster
There's war museum and lowry museum at Salford Quays and you can walk along the canal into City in 30-40 mins.
Fairbairn
The Northern Quarter has a few good bars and restaurants. Avoid the Printworks like the plague. Full of hen/stag dos and neds.

Huddersfield
If you're at all interested in politics, particularly labour/trade union politics then try the People's History Museum. http://www.phm.org.uk/
Charlie Endell
'Pint' brewed by Marble Arch Brewery currently a guest ale In the Bon Accord - it has travelled very well to boot but I'm sure it isn't £3.70 a pint in the Marble Arch! Bon Accord is pricey. I was in a couple of weeks back whilst waiting on our supporters bus to Dens.
Toepoke
Just noticed this thread. I can confirm the football museum is brilliant, even for Scots. Especially if you were ever into Subbuteo
Charlie Endell
I'd heard the football museum is good - I'm back in Manc for a Christmas piss up next month - now wish I'd booked a later train back up the road the following day to give me a chance to visit it. It's a brilliant city - so many pub and restaurant options - a manageable size as well - as much as I like London getting around can be a nightmare and I always seem to go through money at a fair rate of knots. Angus_Young
Old Trafford stadium tour and museum is well worth going to. You could spend hours in the place, the amount of information they have available.

We did the museum in July. Pretty good. Free entry but if you with kids be prepared to shell out as they have interactive sections which they'll want to do. There was also a WW1 section on the top floor which cost a nominal fee to see.
