wubbs
Anyone planning on going to Belarus for the Womens qualifier next June? (I hear that Belarus is much better than France anyway)
Flora MaDonald
As much as I loved Minsk, I'll give that one a miss.
wanderer
At the moment toying with the idea of a passing through visit around the Lithuania game, but at the moment its only a slight consideration as Visa costs went through the roof since last visit, and though I liked Minsk, its WELLLLLLLLLLLL down the list of places I would return to (Chisinau, Skopje, Kyiv etc I would return to in a heart beat.... Minsk, Meh! Just above Warsaw)
Exglasgowasc
Why didn't you back to Skopje with the Dons? Ideal opportunity! Much improved again even since Scotland's second visit.

If it had not so close to my jaunt to Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia for a week, I would have

Minsk, Meh! Just above Warsaw) Didn't think the Belarus visa cost was too bad at £45, and having missed out in 2005, I might as well just go for it. Would only spend a couple of days in Minsk, and try move around a bit (if possible). Seems a bit of a unique country!

It's a minimum fee of €90 (or was when I checked). I'm still heading to Vilnius that way though.

wanderer
Do you not also need a letter of invitation? In 2005 the guy who did it for most Scotland fans charged something like £15, and that was a official company? Plan just now is if the Mrs is going to Ukraine to see her folks, I will do Kyiv-Minsk-Vilnius by train.... But at the moment going via St Petersburg (on a cheaper Russian Transit Visa) is winning. wubbs
I was going by this: http://www.belarus.by/en/travel/travel-visas thanks. I'll check that out. Either way I'd be happy to pay if I was going to be there for a week - probably wouldn't bother if only going for a few days.

Can you do that on a transit visa? I thought they were only for genuine transit - e.g. with a Belarus transit visa you can travel from Lithuania to Ukraine or Russia. but not Poland as there is an easier direct route between Lithuania and Poland. Yeah, no problem what so ever. As long as enter from one border (ie Ukraine/Airport) and out the country within 48 hours through a onward flight/Lithuania border it is no problem. As my preferred option for Lithuania is via St Petersburg, already spoke with the Russian Consulate in Edinburgh and as long as I can produce detailed travel plans on how and where I will be entering Russia, I can get a transit visa that gets me 3 full days in Russia (if I was to enter or leave Russia at least once by train or bus, rather than fly in and out, then this gets extended to 10 days)
