Kirk
Why do people always have a go at lefties for this. When do you ever see a right footed player whip it in with his left? About the same I'll bet. I'd say you're more likely to see a left footer using their right often than vice versa.

Al1978
Hutton suspended now. Not a great time for that to happen, when you have a new manager.

davew
Matt Philips assist vs Arsenal 4 in 3 games. I don't know why he was playing so badly at the start of the season, but he seems to have turned a corner.

Paulo2576
I'm saying play left footers on the left and vice versa. Duh! Wasn't how I read it but well well. Plenty of left footers play on the right to great effect. And vice versa.
Blantyre_Braveheart
4 in 3 games. I don't know why he was playing so badly at the start of the season, but he seems to have turned a corner. Its probably got something to do with arry being gone. Some players who don't really get a game for a previous manager get an extra motivation when a new manager comes. In the 6 months from August till January he played a total of 500 minutes of football, and was rubbish. He's played about 320 minutes since arry left, and he's assisted every single goal QPR have scored in that time.
todd
No sign of Gauld in the Sporting team tonight. Thought he might be in with a shout as he seems to have been used in a few cup games.
davew
Depends on your definition of top class I suppose. If, for arguments sake, you look at players who could play for top teams in the top leagues in Europe, then I'd say unfortunately none of them are. Pre illness, when he was at his best, then you could make a case for Darren Fletcher but not any more. We've a fair chunk of players who are capable of - and are - playing in the top leagues, primarily the EPL, but none are playing for the top clubs. Of current players, Steven Naismith is probably the one playing consistently well at the highest level. Personally, I'd cut my losses with Bannan and give his place in the squad to someone like Ryan Gauld who is younger and has the potential to be a much much better player. For arguments sake, I'll attempt a definition. I'm going to say there are 3 categories of top class players #1 Regular starts and 1 or 2 man of the match awards per season in a top league In this category we have: McArthur, Naismith, Boyd, Hutton, Bardsley, Morrison, McGregor Fletcher and Robertson are not far away. #2 Regularly wins man of the match awards in a top league In this category we have no-one #3 Winning awards at the end of the season in a top league (league winners medal, POTY, team of the year etc.) In this category we have no-one

wanderer
But then performing well in the EPL can hardly be ignored - I agree I don't think he's fantastic but it's hard to argue against calling up someone who's playing regularly, and performing, in one of the best leagues in Europe I think he falls into a category of players that remind Strachan of himself somewhat, and if they can find themselves getting into a position of playing regularly at club level, they will find themselves in his plans..... as I said elsewhere, I think Strachan is somewhat of a bit of a old romantic.... and he especially likes nippy wee wingers who put themselves about on the pitch (guys like Bannan, Anya, Burke etc....... ) who remind him of himself when he was playing, and I would not be surprised if Boyd finds his way into the next squad. He scores a good goal about the 1:33 mark. http://youtu.be/l-r8hjVz7aQ

Be honest, we have some good players, we have some decent players and we have some okay players. WGS is doing a good job with the players that he has at his disposal and there are good reasons to be hopeful for the future but we don't have any top class players, if we did then we would be doing better than we are.
