Michael White now on Scotnight on STV at 10.30pm discussing if Carmichael should go, FFS.

Just watched that, what a horrible patronising, incoherent whanker!

Just as well they weren't in the studio together - Leslie should have put the nut on him, condascending ersehole!

And his repeated argument that 'the people should be allowed to decide', whilst saying that there shouldn't be a by-election.... WTF?!?

Have a listen to Malcolm Bruce on yesterday morning's Today programme on Radio 4. A hysterical performance in every sense of the word.

Aye, he used to be my MP, and I had a lot of time for him, thought he was a good guy - and he did a lot of good things in Gordon, really helped some friends of mine.

But over the last couple years it's been sad to see him morph into a frothing attacker of anything SNP. He got out at the right time, I'd worry for his health if he was still an MP - he's getting himself so worked up

Wait a minute here. I have just realised something else. There is the leak and the lies. Then there is the supposed £1.4 million investigation. But what about the "severance" pay he has "given up"? 17K severance pay? How tae fuk was he due 17K severance pay? He was only in the job for a year and a half. Some folk can work 20 years in a job and not get 17K redundancy pay. Do these folk decide their own redundancy payments as well? The whole Westminster system is totally corrupt.

For me what is more sinister is the silence from other parties and the ignorance of this matter by the MSM. This is no less than a scandal -but MSM sweeping it under the carpet as w itch hunt by SNP.

Highlights the establishment corruption. It shouldn't matter which party you vote for - any decent person would view this as a scandal.

It's standard for both ministerial positions and MPs.

However it's being changed and substantially reduced

That's for MPs leaving the HoC. That's the problem, he's not leaving the HoC. Well not yet anyway. :wink2:

The 17K was to be for leaving the job of SoS for Scotland. A job he had only done for a year and half. A job that he himself said was a "non job" and the position should be abolished. So, he took the salary for a "non job" for a year and half, abused his position while he was in that "non job", And if he hadn't got caught, he would have pocketed another 17K for leaving that "non job". They are a totally corrupt shower of fukers.

If that were Salmond or Sturgeon, you can bet your arse the £17k would be all over the shop. It must rank up there with the most corrupt / dodgy outfit known to man.

The £17k has hardly been hidden away. It's been mentioned in all the MSM.

Aye, I know but have any of them been asking why he should be entitled to so much considering he only did the job for a year and a half? Folk just seem to be accepting that that sort of payout is normal.

That tells more of who saw it than those that didn't....

So what is the up-shot of that? They just refuse and that is it? Surely an independent body decides whether it is in the public interest or not.

You can appeal it - which they are doing - and ultimately it will be down to the information commissioner to decide.

I worked on the periphery of FOI for a few years, and IIRC you request the information from the body who holds it. There are various grounds for refusal - not in the public interest, unreasonable request (i.e. would take too many staff hours to complete) etc. If it is refused I think you can then appeal to the Information Commissioner whose decision, I think, might be final.
