Hertsscot
The guy or panel no doubt are neutral but it's a poor system when an Australian brings the allegation. Only needs a Scot to watch for foul play in the Australia game to show that it's a system that at best is with faults and at worst is corrupt. wellyman
Gray and Ford would have been better punching some guy as you only get a week for that , as in O'brien's case. Those bans just do not relate.
Bristolhibby
I presume Scotland are immediately appealing? Pointing out the conflict of interest and the disproportionate bans for IMHO worse offences (punching). J
Pool Q
If Richie McCaw were to do at the weekend in the QF what either Gray or Ford did, will he receive a 3 week ban?

EvilScotsman
We're appealing the length of the ban, apparently. Interestingly, the referee stated that after the performance review process he was happy he dealt with the situation appropriately, i.e. no foul play was involved. Referees' opinions cannot form part of their submission though! Also, what kind of Q.C. manages to spell 'descended' with the 's' but 'descent' without it? Pool Q
At best the there will be a reduction in the length of the ban, neither of them are going to be available for Sunday.
McVinceSCT
Are you guys optimistic about this game or is it going to be a 15+ points defeat? I couldn't watch many games but from what i've see Australia look very strong!
Deedee
Not that optimistic but i don`t think it`s a foregone conclusion that we`re out already. Need Australia to have a bad day though. Looking forward to the trip to Twickenham
Pool Q
The odds I've seen have Australia by 15-18 which looks about as good as we can hope for. Gray and Ford will be missed, and the bench really is down to the bare bones. Something had to be done about the defensive frailty in midfield, and I can see why Scott has been dropped, but we do look a bit lightweight there. If we pick up early injuries in certain positions (lock and hooker in particular) it could be a long game. Cowan in for Wilson to try and compete with the mobility of their back row has a logic to it too, ignoring the fact that we went into this with just one open side on the squad. All the best to the team, be an incredible achievement for them to get a win.
Pool Q
...on the other hand, Folau and (in particular) Pocock bring out is a huge bonus.

Pool Q
Scott's not dropped. he's injured. That's what they have gone with on the media. I heard on Monday that Cotter and Taylor had identified him as the defensive weak link and that he wouldn't be in the squad this weekend either way. I believe his injury is marginal, if Cotter was desperate for Scott to be involved he'd make it.

Delighted if they're allowed to play tomorrow - if we are actually allowed to change the team. Lineups are meant to be finalised 48 hours before kickoff. This. The whole thing has been a complete farce. The citing Commisioner (an Australian) ignored the fact that the ref said that he saw the incident and didn't think it merited any penalty. This was compounded by Quinlan also ignoring it, and that the Samoan had no memory of the incident, and imposing what was almost universally recognised as an absurdly long ban. Scotland have had to prepare all week on the basis that Gray and Ford wouldn't play, and now 24 hours before the game, things are in reality complicated by this reversal. Assuming it is right that both can play I guess they will, but the whole thing has brought the RWC into disrepute.
