weekevie04
Taking this way off topic, and definitely not fishing, but Poland have to be one of the biggest underachieving football nations in the world. A massive, football mad population who often fail to qualify for championships. Although they seem to have found a very decent side now. I think they'll qualify for the Euros and probably beat us tomorrow, but it'll be interesting to see how they do against Romania, Switzerland, Belgium, etc next year. fanatyk
Twice 3rd on World Cup and qualified for a fair number of big tournaments recently (with no success once qualified though). Produced good number of great players Deyna, Lato, Lubanski, Boniek, Warzycha, Smolarek, Tomaszewski, Lewandowski etc. plus bunch of guys that we have now playing in decent leagues and clubs Always could be better of course but could be worse either. We will see where this team will takes us. We suffer from lack of funds in national football league for sure and there is a sense of underachievieng overall but is not that big as you would expect. Pete Gas
Bar that Greer tackle I wouldn't say we are a dirty team in anyway. We try and play 21st century football under WGS.

Green_Tide_Rising
I fear it's going to be Scotland v Poland AND the Referee. (no offence intended to any Polish fans). We had this ref for the away leg of our EURO 2012 playoff game......he was card happy I remember He dished out about 7 yellows as far I can remember....which in turn led to 2 players receiving red cards during the game. Cant remember if any of them were unfair...dont think there was any controversy with them but cant be sure due to the timeline But in saying that....He has refereed a champions Final and 2 Champions League semi finals, and a world cup semi final.....so i figure ye should be fine.....poor referee's normally dont get those big games if they have a poor match history

Green_Tide_Rising
F**k me!!!!!......words fail me!!!!!! Whatever about the referee...what the f&&k was the linesman doing? Ah lads....thats a serious kick in the balls
Chico
Shite decision, compounded by bad defending. Free header 6 yards from goal isn't good enough.
fanatyk
apart from obvious referee blunder that was a horrible mistake by the defender, he should kick the ball as far as possible instead of... yeah only he knows what he was trying to do Edited October 7, 2015 by fanatyk

Yeah very dodge mate . ...gutted for ye after seeing that footage Similar questions were asked regarding advertising rights, adidas sponsorship , bigger nation missing out....when the ref and linesman somehow missed the Henry handball against us in the W.C 2010 playoff. Ya would hope football isnt like that.......but...........

Let`s not get paranoid. There is no paranoia at all .....it doesnt make a difference whether the defender kicked the ball away(thats an entirely seperate issue). Whether he did or didnt....it in no way was an Italy freekick.......madness that it was given or even considered

I remember in the Japan/Korea World Cup and looked a great player in that tournament. Olisadebe. Yeah he was a great player for that campaign leading to 2002 WC. New quality to the team back then and the likeable guy. After WC he continued his career in Panathinaikos, but in 2005 got injured then made few bad transfer decisions and remaining years he played in some minor clubs. Stopped playing in 2013. A legend. Main man in our comeback to WC after 16 years.

fanatyk
Or maybe we will. That`s football. Once you`re lucky with referee, once you`re not. It`s not ideal, but untill referees are people there will be mistakes. But with that logic you trying to impose here: Iceland should be nowhere near France 2016, Wales should be nowhere near it, maybe Norn Iron as well etc. All small nations. It`s easier to expelain such situation with controversial theories, but sometimes, or maybe mostly, it`s just luck of luck.

Thats a terrible analogy Wales have some very good players and a good team ethic....thats why they are there Northern Ireland ....have a fantastic team ethic and their group isnt the toughest Christ even my own bunch.....on numerous occassions .....we have punched above our weight in qualifying and in tournaments That cant be compared to conspiracy Im not sure how you can even equate the above with a corrupt FIFA/UEFA Nobody on here is saying every referee is corrupt and yes referee's are people and can make genuine mistakes.....but there is a mistake and then an utter ridiculous decision as per the video above that in no way makes any logic
fanatyk
So FIFA/UEFA want to get rid of "small nations" from their big tournaments or no? In general: yes or no? Or that cases in which they want to that and that "cannot be compared" are simply picked up by you or other fans supporting that version, from all the games played to fit into theory? Denmark, Holland, Czech Republic, Wales, NI, Ireland, Iceland, Switzerland and probably others- they won`t fit into it for sure.
