Doric
The childish Unionist Red Tory run council are not giving permnission to the Sep 19th indy rally. More reason to get along folks. They can't stop us. All we had to say was we were having an Orange fest and they would have signed the paperwork in the blink of an eye. Glasgowmancity
what possible reason have the council given for refusing the rally? The fact there was there were 2 applications for 2 demonstrations on the same day by 2 opposing groups. The council knocked them both back to avoid any disorder. iainmac1
The Yes rally application was put in in May. A month before the other application which was only put in by an individual, not an organisation. They've taken this long to say anything about it. The council also rejected the last two Yes rallies in October and April of last year. They never had this poor excuse then. Surely it is just to inform them and as long as it is not an organisation with a history of violent rallies etc, I don't see how they can reject? Unless of course there is a valid reason because something else is happening, I get that.

You need to make an application to the council for a "public procession" The council will then decide on a case by case basis whether to allow this. Understand that, it was the rejections that puzzled me.
Scunnered
The outrage over this has been pleasing. A rally planned by a group of opportunists that the majority of Independence supporting groups have a No Platform policy with is not something that should be embraced. Are Doric and Iain as equally outraged at the SNP, SSP, Greens, Women for Independence, Common Weal, RIC, SLP, Socialist Party and many many more for not legitamising this nonsense? As they are at Glasgow City Council for not letting a criminal have his 5 minutes

As they are at Glasgow City Council for not letting a criminal have his 5 minutes Why so angry all the time? These rallies are well attended and enjoyed by independence supporters of all groups doesn't matter who likes the organisers or not. My opinion is that there should maybe be one big march and rally a year like we had in Edinburgh. Whether you like Mr Sherridan or not isn't really the point here. There is no legitimate reason for refusing 3 rallies now. Edited August 12, 2015 by iainmac1

I'd wager that not a single person from Greens, SSP, Women For Independence, RIC, SLP have ever attended or would ever attend a Hope Over Fear "rally".
