weekevie04
Read an Irish fans comment on YBIG about our squad. I think it was this.... "There is no one player in that squad I fear but what I do fear is Strachan” Sums it up for me and I believe if I was a supporter of any of Scotland opposition teams I would be of the same mind set. Scotland, playing as a team under WGS is better than the sum of its parts, In Gord we trust. Keep the Faith, BELIEVE and ‘MON SCOTLAND! I think that's an excellent poitn from the Irish fan. We both have similar squads. Yet I think Strachan is getting something out of the players. We've been pretty resilient this campaign - the Georgian and Irish wins were tight affairs, although we had some good spells. Our best games have been the away ones. I'd take a draw. I think the 3 of us - Ireland, Scotland and Poland will draw with each other but one of us will win a key game, maybe the Poles at home to Ireland, which will tip the second spot. Looking forwad to it now though. A few weeks to go.
Wolfgang Overthebar
I believe the Irish fans are clutching at straws now knowing a defeat in three weeks almosts end there chances !! Agree with previous post 1 - 1 draw looks a good shout . Cant see us getting beat over there always fancied it even from the draw last year... I cant agree with that i'm afraid. The Irish fans i work with are fairly confident of beating us and their next two games are Georgia are at home and Gibraltar away. They honestly believe they will - with some justification - have 17 points with two games to go whereas we are likely (drawing with Georgia Away being, in their opinion, our only point) to have 11 points. I hope they are wrong but i certainly dont detect any clutching at straws by the Irish fans - thanks to their win in Georgia and draw in Germany they fully expect to beat us and effectively make us fourth place going into the last two games - and consequently fourth at the end. ErsatzThistle
Most Ireland fans are really bullish about our upcoming game and are taking heart from their game vs. Poland in which they were much improved. Arrogance really does not suit us. It's disappointing to see that a few fans have written Ireland off as an easy three points. It will be anything but that. Now I hope we get a result out there but I'm a realist, and there's every chance that we could be crashing back down to earth in a few weeks. noctonjock
Ireland got 2 late goals in Georgia and Germany and got 4 points when could easily have been 1 , on the other hand we got 1 point from 2 away games when could easily have been 4 ,the irish are bound to be confident going into this game but we have to remember the pressure is all on them to win . A point will be a great result as far as im concerned

Robroysboy
Massive game for ireland, they can't afford not to win. If group is so tight that we finish on same points as ire head to head we would beat them if its a draw as we won in november. Maloney's goal could be very significant at the end of this campaign. Bannannan
A repeat of our performances in Germany and Poland would do me.Play like that and we'll have a great chance.
daddybuc16
I don't think we can afford a draw. A win gives us scope for things going wrong in georgia, a draw doesn't. I'm nervous because i think this game will be the defining one in the campaign, there's a lot resting on it and ireland aren't a bad side. But we have shown before that we can do well against good sides, so hopefully can do so again.

Sure a win in Dublin for us would be great but a draw I'd take right now. A draw for Ireland is of no use to them however it wants to be painted as we'd beat them on head-to-head if we finish level on points with them. As you said the head to head also keep up the momentum and a two point lead over Ireland being the most important factor with four games remaining or three if you discount Gibraltar game. daddybuc16
with their next game being against gibralter and ours against georgia, i would be less nervous going into it 5 points clear of them rather than 2. And our two games after that are no easy ride either. Hopefully they will be deed on their feet afte england game. Think as well, because both sides are as good as each other, it makes it harder to call on the night and what happens in the following games as well and if we have that extra 3 point advantage we can go into the next games with confidence and hopefully wrap up 3rd, then you never know with the right result against poland, stranger things have happened. er yir macaroon
Poland at Hamden will be tough. They'll be very dangerous on the counter attack, so I think we'll need to win in Dublin.

1ANDYP
If we want to qualify we need to beat teams like poland at home. FFS they are no world beaters as our last 2 games over there have shown. 2nd half against ireland they were getting hammered. We should also attack them from the start. Totally agree. I think you need to take out Gibraltar games results in general to get the big picture. Three points be great and almost assure us of at least a play off iam certain on that. They are ranked 139 in the world and miles behind the likes of Faroes and Cyprus. Poland destroyed them and they were all over the place. vanderark14
Part of the problem in the past has been that we look at games where we will accept a draw, we need to win these matches to qualify. A win is a must! Edited May 24, 2015 by vanderark14

True, but what worries me is 2 things. 1 they have had a new manager & 2 we are scotland

ParisInAKilt
Poland were very poor in the second half against Ireland. We should be trying to win every game and based on how we've played so far we'll be positive in Ireland. No point qualifying just to make up the numbers.
