Scouse Eddie
My Liverpudlian friend sending me constant snippets from the Liverpool Echo would suggest otherwise. Forgetting roots is not really an issue. Lorra Lorra laughs and all that, got a few quid and moved out to leafy suburb not a problem with that, but then becomes a big thatcherite tory toff. Forgetting roots !! as Ricky Tomlinson says MY ARSE

Pool Q
Couldn't care less about her political views, up to her. And she may well have been a lovely person, never met her. But cant think of a single thing she did in her career that I liked. None of the songs; Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise were simply awful; the Saturday night show she did in the 70s encapsulated everything that was wrong with TV in that era. To be fair to her she admitted she was awful at, and uncomfortable with, comedy. And it showed. Edited August 3, 2015 by Pool Q
phart
My Gran's sister didn't like her at all. Something about the folk she hung out with, can't mind really. Maybe Savile.

sbcmfc
I quite liked Blind date as a kid, and without it, we'd have never had Take me out. Ironically Take me out with its large selection of bimbos is more out of date than blind date.

Big Col
Blind Date - pish as it was - was part of my regular saturday night entertainment for a while in my youth. Carry out purchased about 5pm, then round to my mates to watch Baywatch, Gladiators and then Blind Date. Then head out for a pint. Anybody suggesting Noels House Party got put on was quickly shouted down.

Reading that you forget how brutal weekend telly was back in the day and thats before crap like Big Break, Strike It Lucky and some Bob Monkhouse or Paul Daniels shite gets thrown in. DoonTheSlope
Does anyone else remember "Man oh Man"?? that thing with Chris Tarrant based on Blind Date?? They were in Ibiza/Marbella or some 18-30 shagging place and the men would line up next to a swimming pool and if the wifey didn't fancy them she'd push him in the pool and the last one standing was the winner
