A wee report back on the Revolut card after trip to Czech Republic.

Brilliant...lads getting 34-36 kc's from bank withdrawals and my card was minimum 37.06 and max 39.20.

Brilliant card. Paid for my room and even then got 38.60 and there's no fees.

I've just been reading up on this card. It seems too good to be true... Is it as good and as easy to use as it sounds?

100%. No different to using your bank card.

Paid for my room then went straight to the room to finish packing and while sat having my morning dump checked the App and it was processed already!

I'd recommend it. Mate who was with me is getting one off the back of it especially as he's off on a multi country cruise in September so will save all the currency buying.

Cheers. I just signed up for an account and requested a card. I'm only going to Europe this year but getting the best Euro rate while also paying no fees on transactions is excellent.

Also used the promo code "MSE" when signing up and got a free £5 :)

Thanks!

No worries. Just be aware the card will take anything from 10 to 16 days to arrive. Mines was 14 and came just in time!

I got the Halifax clarity card a couple of months back. Have saved an absolute fortune already.

I got married in Poland and then went on honeymoon to Mexico. I took out £1000s between the two. As I took out cash I was transferring the money from my bank to my credit card. A few times I forgot or couldn't access the Internet. Got my statement through the other day and the total interest that was charged was 7p and the exchange rate was the exact rate.

I wish I had discovered this card years ago.

Use Clarity card every time I go abroad now :ok:

Any more experiences of the Revolut card?

Going to Portugal in a couple of weeks (about a week too early for the game unfortunately!) with the family, and seems a great idea to take cash for the 1st few days and the card.

Card should be with me any day, appears pretty straightforward.

Just one question really?

See the wee wheel that has dollar, euro, pound....

If I put £500 on card, do I need to convert it to euros in the app? Or if I lifted euros would it just automatically do it?

Any drawbacks? It does seem slightly too good to be true.

Used it at Tbilisi airport as we arrived and again at bank near hotel , no problems at all .

Got text message alerts fairly soon after withdrawal to say how much had gone out (in sterling ) . Will use it again in Portugal rather order loads of euros, as our hotel has a bit of a reputation for pilfering !

Just used Revolut card for 3 weeks in Menorca and Madrid. Was able to see the rate ahead of each in-app top-up, and loaded it 4 or 5 times. Yes you load up pounds and then select a currency to change them into. It all happens instantly. I understand that if you try to make a purchase in Euros (or a withdrawal) then it will decline if you have not converted your pounds. Dead easy. Used it to withdraw cash, pay for meals, and booked a hotel on the internet.

Think of the 'wee wheel' as separate accounts for each currency. Came back with 50 odd euros on it after a last purchase of breakfast at Madrid Barajas, and tapped them back into pounds on the way home at a Tesco while shopping, and paid for our food and drink shop with it to use them up.

Really impressed. I also have a Caxton card but Revolut is better. Only issue for me is that I loaded the app on the mrs' phone and she gets an immediate text for every transaction. Got boring being out at the park/shops in Spain and getting an excited text from her being amazed at how cool it was. She texts - ' I can see you spending holiday budget again !'...............I text - 'Aye but did it specify fags and porn ?'

And did it - my friend wants to know ?

Tell your 'friend' that it did not.

It just texts along the lines of......£15.57 spent at Tesco south Road. Easy way to keep track. I'm actually going to use it for food shopping to show the mrs how much really gets spent on food etc. I do pretty much all of the 'supermarket' shopping - and I use wee shops in the Ferry where possible......and Scotts butchers on the High Street in Dundee.......I also do all the cooking, but I get grief for not being good with money/skint at end of month etc, so hopefully using the Revolut will clarify things. I think that when the Mrs says we need washing powder, nappies, and toothpaste....oh and get a bottle of wine and something for the kids tea....and....and....., then I come home 40 quid light - she thinks I've spent a tenner on the shopping and blown the rest at the bookies :wtf: "I don't know what you do with your money, you really need to budget better." AAAArgghhh :yikes3:

I was thinking after the holiday, it might be a great way to budget. I'm not willing to hand my wages over to the wife and take pocket money, but could stick what I think my disposable income is on the card on payday, and see if it lasts me the month....

If not, look into why not.

Has anyone had problems when trying to top up their Revolut card ?

I tried to loads some cash on it as I`m heading to Iceland next week and was asked to provide additional security (i.e.a scan of my passport / driver licence ) due to goverment regulations if you top up more than £1000 in a year . Sounds a bit Big Brother to me !

Probably to do with anti money laundering regulations.

Not used mine recently, but not had any problems.

As mentioned, will be anti money laundering measures.

Sounds above board, thr government are really hot on anti money laundering measures just now. Bookies and the likes will ask for similar if you're turning over beyond a threshold.

These cards are relatively anonymous, so can understand the need...

I appreciate the need for security etc, but I`ve only transferred £900 to it in the last 9 months for football trips and holidays , it`s hardly likely to register with the fraud squad or HMRC

I got mine in July and had to do this.

No big deal and easily done.
