Anybody who had been paying attention over the decades would have heard Alex Salmond saying very similar things. They have both always been on the gradualist side of the party.

He could stand as MSP even if he keeps his seat at the general election. I know they changed the rules to stop Joanna Cherry doing it, but the rules can just as easily be changed back again, if they want to.

I think the opposite. Only bad journalists think it's any of their or our business. All that matters is how they vote or what their proposed policies are on each issue. What religion they choose to follow is irrelevant, IMO. Even today catholics aren't supposed to use any form of contraception. Should journalists be going around asking every catholic politician if they have ever used a condom?

She doesn't need two jobs. One is plenty. She should be allowed to choose which job she wants. That will probably be part of the deal. From the outside, it may look like Finance Secretary is the best fit, but that is a huge amount of work. She may decide that that isn't the best job for herself right now. If she does have the vision to eventually lead us to independence then she might decide to invent a slightly different job for herself? 😉
