ProudScot
When's this squad announced anyway? Won't be for weeks yet will it? I don't think there will be many surprises in it anyway...
adamntg
Can't wait for the seethe on here when Che Adams gets called up I read that as Ched Evans - ha ha ha! Now that would put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Not until the middle of next month (though the SFA will have to get the paper work done if there is any truth in this Mowatt story.......). Don't think many/any surprises in terms of new faces (again, unless there is some truth to this Mowatt story), but maybe he a few players in it who raise a eyebrow, but these will be guys who have been in and around the squad over the last 2 years. Yeah exactly - guys like Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Jack, Tom Cairney, Liam Cooper maybe as they have been in a squad or named by McGhee recently but can't see complete newbies being called up ahead of these guys!? You never know though. GMS surely be included too....
Fairbairn
Can't wait for the seethe on here when Che Adams gets called up I know nothing about this guy but we shouldn't be picking him purely based on fact that his name is Che. Che for fvcks sake!!
wanderer
Think the chances are very strong that Armstrong and GMS will start against Northern Ireland, let alone be in the squad........... But yeah, anyone you can say is a "newbie" will be guys like you named.

I just Googled him and his full name is Che Zach Everton Fred Adams. Ridiculous.
ErsatzThistle
I know nothing about this guy but we shouldn't be picking him purely based on fact that his name is Che. Che for fvcks sake!! He's a highly rated non-league striker that Sheffield United recently bought. He scored against Spurs recently. There was a line in the Daily Mail that said he was eligible for Scotland but didn't say what his family link was.

YORKIE PAM
This shit is getting relentless. How about we arrange another friendly with England. Here's the line up. Matt Gilks Matt Elliot Dominic Matteo Phil Bardsley Nigel quashie Kris commons Alex Mowatt James Morrison CMS Jamie Mackie Chris Martin That's the scotland team by the way. Dom Matteo was born in Scotland.
YORKIE PAM
Mowatt looks a very exciting prospect and is flourishing under Redfearn at Leeds. I wouldn't be averse to him being included in future U21 squads if he is genuinely interested in representing Scotland. It's tradition for Leeds Utd to have a player that plays for Scotland. Caledonian Craig
I wonder how or what defines true Scottishness? Is it just that they were born in Scotland and that ensures their undying devotion to the cause? Of course not. There have been many Scots-born players to play for us who have let us down or quit the national team or just shown a rank bad attitude so being Scottish born is no guarantee of 100% commitment or desire to play for us. I have a nephew born in England but brought up by his Scottish dad and he is a committed Scotland supporter who shows great devotion to our national team - perhaps a good deal more than Scots who couldn't give a toss about the national side. Scottishness you see cannot be just defined as because they are born here they are purely committed to our country and reverse can be said for those not born here who do end up playing for us. Very under rated goalkeeper from what I remember, when he retire didn't he become postie in Orkney or Shetland? Wasn't that Peter (the Cat) Bonetti? DonnyTJS
It was indeed Orkney he still lives in Orkney Hmmm. Bonetti became a postie on the Isle of Mull. ProudScot
Hmmm. Bonetti became a postie on the Isle of Mull. Some weird '70s-'keeper, Scottish-isle, postman-Pat-related brotherhood? Haha! I guess in their era earning normal sort of money there had to be a career after football. You imagine if modern day footballers had to go into normal working life, we would see; Wayne Rooney (benefit claimer) Islam Feruz (Giving you aftershave in your local nightclub toilet) Grant Hanley (Volunteer litter picker with assistance from his carer) Etc etc! Indeed I was 3 months way from being born in england but luckily enough my edinburgh born dad got transferred North just in time. My English born wife whose maiden name is Mowatt thinks this it would be great if he was called up
