Guys i am travelling from Dusseldorf to Dortmund on Fri and back on Mon, i am best booking in advance or when i arrive at Dusseldorf airport?

you can only book the high speed trains in advance, but they're generally more expensive than Regional trains which take roughly same time anyway, plus you're fixed on a service...just buy at airport - a single from Duss airport to Dortmund is €13.10 & trains generally go at 02 & 28 past each hr - 50min journey http://www.vrr.de/en/index.html

Yeah as Deecie said. I checked ticket, train time only shown on reservation part of ticket. I'd try to get on the train you planned to use even though you don't have seat reservation.

Yeah i will be as if dont get on that dont fancy the swaps that why booked direct. it has the times on my email confirmation just not the downloaded print off

Booked 3 of us on the train from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf..

Anyway ive printed out tickets off but looking on them it doesnt have the train departure time just the date and departure and arrival stations.

anyone else the same or do you have the times?

We are booked from Amsterdam Airport on Sunday morning to Dortmund but received an email this week saying due to line works the times have changed. Looks like we were on the 10.17 train from the Airport, travelling to Utrecht which changes at 11.02 arriving at Dortmund at 13.21. Now saying we have to get bus at 9.58 from Airport and then leave Amsterdam Biljimer Arena at 10.34 to Utrecht and change there for 11.02 to Duisbuirg then Duisburg 12.46 to Dortmund 13.29. Don't know if there is an easier way like going from the Airport to Amsterdam Central and catching train from there? Too many tight changes for my liking!

Sounds like the direct line is shut between Schipol and Amsterdam Central so take the routing they have suggested as Netherland conductors can be desparete.

I am going for the routing via Den Haag then Utrecht then via Enschade. Double check what your original route was as the ICE trains are dearer and check who you booked through.

Train is from central direct mate.

We have about 5 hours from landing until our train from central

Plenty of time to get there, there must be some form of airport bus to the centre.

the 197 bus from airport goes to the Leidseplein area of Amsterdam. From there you can jump on a 1,2 or 5 tram direct to Centraal Station. Buses run every 15 mins.

However, seeing as this is a rail track issue I would assume there will be buses provided which run direct to Centraal Station
