If like me, your ability to take in information is greatly reduced and you need to read something three or four times before it registers (and then disappears over the course of an hour). You should get a brain scan.

I have to deal with absolute ####wits on an hourly basis at work and the only thing that is reduced is my resistance to tourettes.

Eyesight's the worse. I'm shortsighted and worn specs since I was about 7 or 8. Not had too many changes in vision but just the last couple of years I've found myself doing that old people reading where you keep having to move objects closer or further away until you get them in sight. Sometimes it doesn't work at all and just find myself muttering "How on earth do they expect you to read that?" or asking my daughter to read it for me. Two pairs of specs one for reading, one for pretty much everythign else, trying multifocal contact lenses and have some good days and some which aren't so good.

I had a medical recently and was amazed to find I was in A1 condition. Considering the bevy and fags I've consumed over the years, I couldn't believe it.

41, but always told I look considerably younger (another miracle considering the life I've led!). Thank Christ I've got a full head of hair - losing my mane terrifies me.

Back doing my weights again, and now beginning to see / feel the benefits.

The main one for me is seeing a good looking girl in her early twenties, but fancying her maw more.

Had some good news health-wise recently myself. Like your good self, I am always 'guessed' as being 10 years younger - full head of hair and boyish good looks you know. But a couple of years ago when I was 45 I popped into the optician on the afternoon of my birthday as I'd had a wee 'blur' in my right eye. It was a bit annoying, like a protein swirl on a contact lense. The optician had me up at Ninewells in Dundee seeing a specialist within an hour. Turns out I had a 'bleed' in my heid ! Long story short they said I was in reasonable condition but that my 'West Coast genes' meant I had high cholesterol and my blood pressure was high, so I'm on statins and aspirin. Recent check shows normal levels on both :cheers3:

The Decline is a 2 way street. I am a nicer person these days. I prefer a meal to a sesh. I had a great time when I was younger, but now with a 4 and 2 year old I am having a great time too. It's just that a great time these days is celebrating that my beautiful 2 year old daughter just did a big poo in the big girl toilet

There needs to more running in golf the number of 4+ hour rounds I've had this season is beyond a joke though I did play my first seniors medal last week and that was a reasonable 3 1/2 hours.

i hadn't realised you were as auld as Flure and Mario.

Your'e right, slow play is the most annoying part of golf. Although a lot of the slow players that I know can can hardly hit a ball from a stationary start, I not sure taking a run at it, is going to help matters.

Unbelievably, I have found an event which combines running and golf (though not at the same time)

Running (well walking fast would do) between shots and you get 30 seconds to put or you lose a stroke.

To "put" what, in where?:wink2:

It's also all the faffin about that some folk do. It's almost like they are packing a bag to go on holiday after every single shot. I am often 100 yards down the fairway before they have even left the tee. Then there are the folk who have 3 practice swings, none of them very good, and all 3 different from the swing they actually use to try and hit the ball. WTF is all that aboot?

And fannying aboot marking their score when it is there honour on the next tee. Then they get annoyed when I steal their honour and say "I'll just play wiil I?", then just put the ball down and smack it away, before they get a chance to answer.

There are some reallly annoying fukers on the golf course.

I'm 34 and feel the youngest I have in years. I've lost 4 stone since January and have been swimming 3 times a week every week - I've gone from being barely able to do 2 lengths to doing 80-100 no bother at all, and am doing a 2km charity swim on Sunday. I do a lot more walking, and don't get out of breath going up the stairs or walking up a hill. I've dropped from a XXXL to a Large in t-shirts and a 46" waist to a 38" - the smallest clothes sizes I've been in since my mid-teens (before I discovered the joys of beer). Basically, I'm the healthiest I've been in as long as I can remember, so feel the best I have in God knows how long.

But, I'm balding (and have been since my late teens), and I have grey hair in my beard. I'm also much happier just sitting in the pub having a pint & a chat than actually going "out out" to a club or whatever. Once it hits midnight I'm seriously considering going home to bed as well. My music tastes are still stuck in the 90s, and I refuse to listen to the radio as it's all pish. So while my body might be feeling young, my mind is definitely auld!

I peaked about 37-38.... when I look back 10 years at photos I think it was the best combination of fitness, hair, looks and experience. However I wouldn't go back - although I have sore knees, bad eyesight, too much weight and not much hair I am happier than ever.

its not all decline..

I'm on my holibobs at the moment.

I've suddenly realised that looking at any photo of myself around the pool...or actually from the chest down...pretty much horrifies me. Even when I'm drunk.

There's plenty of deleting going on.

Holidays will never be the same.... :(

I'm 28 and both young and auld.

Mentally i'm auld. I'm uptight, I moan about shite that isn't important, i have an opinion on everything (you may have noticed...) and 9 times out of 10 i'd prefer a few quiet pints and an early night over a big night out.

Physically i'm in fantastic shape. Probably the best i've ever been. I can run a 10k in 40 minutes, easily last a full game of 11 a sides and i can lift more weight than ever before.
