kmcca5
Not long back from the air show. 7 dead and more injured after jet hit motorists and cyclists on a27. Horrible, simply horrible. We decided to stop just before the airport and have our lunch in the park before making way up Mill Hill just above the airport and I am so, so glad we did. Otherwise my 5 and 2 year old would have had a front row seat for the crash. We saw the plane and the smoke after the crash. Spent alot of time at the airport over the years spotting planes with the kids. Such a sad tragic thing to happen. jenblueeyes
It looked horrific on the news and my thoughts go out to anyone caught up in it. Seems to have been a lot of plane crashes at displays lately - the one at the Chris Evans motor show and another in Slovakia recently spring to mind. kmcca5
Ally thoughts are with the families and the Injured. We drove through the junction about an hour previous to the crash. There were a few folk just sat on those camping seats by the side of the roaf watching the planes fly over. They wouldn't have stood a chance. Tragic, but could have been alot worse if the plane crashed into a more populated area. My sincere condolences to those affected by this event. Toepoke
Horrific stuff, worst since Farnborough 1952. Will be at Prestwick Air Show in a couple of weeks. Most of the displays there will be over the sea I believe...

Bzzzz
The way the aircraft went down it looked like there was a problem with the aircraft, almost seemed to stall at the bottom of the loop and went down on its belly. Awful. Strange flight path.
Ally Bongo
Aye looks as though it stalled Unfortunately seen the uncut video on youtube Curiousity killed the cat There is no consolation but those in the traffic jam that it hit would have known absolutely nothing about it and would have died instantly They had no chance Horrendous - and there are still several missing
Kirk
Noticed there was another one in Switzerland. To be honest I am not sure I would ever want to got to an airshow. I wouldn't go to one as it would bore the tits off me. Still a horrible tragedy
kmcca5
Eleven dead according to the BBC They just released that it could rise to as many as 20 when they move the plane wreckage today. Pissing down with rain here today so will make salvage more difficult. Also worried about environmental impact with the fuel, oil etc. It's on the edge of a nature reserve and the Adur river. Lots of birds, lizards and so on. It was an extremely busy bit of road and the traffic was choca-block. Apparently the traffic lights were red so reduced the amount of cars moving through the intersection at the time of the crash.
Parklife
What the feck is the actual point in air shows? Just seems like completely unnecessary danger to me. Edited August 24, 2015 by Parklife
aaid
What the feck is the actual point in air shows? Just seems like completely unnecessary danger to me. Some people would say what's the point in football. I wouldn't class myself as a big plane spotter but went along to the air show at Fareham a few years back with a couple of mates who are. I enjoyed the day a lot more than I thought I would, never been back to one though.
Parklife
Some people would say what's the point in football. It's a competitive sport. Competing to see who is the best is the point. I can't recall a football flying out a stadium, exploding on a road and killing 20 folk. So it's probably not the same, IMO. Edit: My post isn't meant to be as arsey as it sounds... Parklife
Heysel, Hillsborough, Bradford, Ibrox Yup and as a result of these football stadiums are now much safer. I'm not saying ban air shows. I'm just asking what the point in them is. Planes are flown in a needlessly dangerous way. When, in any normal situation would a lane do a loop-the-loop?
