Shambles at Edinburgh airport (again)...

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/scots-fliers-blast-shambolic-airport-5925178

I wonder when the airport management will actually do something about this ?

30 minutes or more queueing is unacceptable... never mind some of the rudest, arrogant, most ignorant staff in any airport, anywhere.

It gives a terrible impression of Scotland to visitors. I wonder how the airport will cope come festival time ?

It's worthwhile using Glasgow airport more often these days, just to avoid the shambles which is Edinburgh.

The shambles at Edinburgh Airport starts long before check-in or security. There are days when it can take 20 mins or more just to get into the drop off zone because of the ridiculous way the area is routed. IMO it has chaos designed-in to keep vehicles in the zone for as long as possible to make as much money as possible. Over 5 mins and its £3 min to get out.

There are days at Edinburgh airport when it would probably have been quicker travelling through to Glasgow.

The 'new' owners have done some things well.....the main departure lounge is a big improvement on how it was before, with some good eating options.

However, the really important bits for passengers.....check-in and security.....can be a feckin chaos, with long queues and really ignorant, poorly trained staff. That in itself is enough to give your casual, foreign visitor to Edinburgh airport a bad impression of Scotland.

The management of the airport need to get a grip of this.

Travelling out on the 14th we experienced the delay in getting into to drop-off zone and then queues of about 45 minutes to get to security. Coming back last night was a joke. Not quite sure what was going on at baggage reclaim but rather than come through on the carousel all the bags seemed to be dumped in a great big pile in a random corner of the baggage hall which someone luckily spotted. Then the doors into Customs shut and stayed closed for no obvious reason for 10 minutes. Finally there were no taxis at all, wait of over half an hour at just after midnight. Listening to comments from those around us Edinburgh Airport has to sort this out.

i'm through Edinburgh every monday morning, use the fastrack as teh normal security look like riot some mornings.... dont even get me started on the parking and bus drop off almost at the car park... still better than gatwick by a mile....no queueing system in a room with no air conditioning...choas everytime - they keep sending everyone away from the main security entrance to the side one...

Came in via Edinburgh last night.

Place was very busy which is very good, but what a shambles. 4/5 flights to a baggae carriage - our flight arrived at 11, and by 11.09 the screen was saying something along the lines of 'Baggage delivered. Go to Menzies courier (across from domestic arrivals) for baggage''. Get there and the boy was excellent, but told me 'it's probably not even been put on the belt yet' then chatted away for a bit and was told the queues are regularly outside the door in the mornings, and he doesn't know how half the stuff that goes on gets through ''H and S''.

£12.90 too in car parking from fannying around waiting for bags. So at least they'll have made a bit of cash from it all.

I was there twice last week and thought it was fine. No better or worse than Glasgow. What did rankle me though was the genius that thought it would be a good idea for the only access to the car parking for the Royal Highland Show to be on the same road as the approach to the airport!! Fud.

Normally fine for me, one gripe I had was some Nazi pointing for me to go onto a spot at security them pointing for my 6 year old son to go to one at the other end of the line. Gave her a stiff ignoring and helped him get his coat and bag loaded up onto the conveyor belt and through the X-ray.

Maybe your son was doing a very good job of pretending that you weren't with him? :wink2:

Same. Sounds like weekends are maybe worth avoiding.

Whilst the airport can do better, passengers need to do their bit by packing luggage properly and coming to the airport prepared - folk seem to think they just need to get to the A8 and the rest just happens.

Edinburgh airport used to be great. Never had any problems but since they changed the security area from the left of the top of the escalator to the right the queues have been horrendous. Regularly right down to the check in area. Absolute shambles.
