Why don't folk just do away with summer tyres and drive on winter tyres all the time if they are safer?

think they are dearer than normal. Plus negligible benefits above 7 degrees, so you are wearing down more expensive tyres in the summer. I guess if you can get them same price as normal tyres you could. not sure if they are less effective in higher temperatures - maybe.

Surprised to learn the amount of folk who actually go for the winter tyres. Personally I've never had a requirement for them, even back in 2009/10 I still managed to drive my car about no problems but I guess everyone's circumstances are different. What happens when you sell the car? Do you sell it with the winter tyres then? What if the buyer doesn't want them? Do you have to buy winter tyres every time you replace your car or do you buy another car that the winter tyres would fit on? Just curious lol :-))

Had my car for 10 years so cant answer that.

This is the world of whank that is now dealing with any kind of tradesman in the UK.

That's not very nice now,it's comments like this that make the decent, honest tradesmen all sound bad.

Jen, there's a really good garage just over the back from your house if you're looking to get a second opinion or other work done :ok:

If that's the one at Swinton roundabout, I used to use them when I worked in the city centre but it's a pain now having to get the train into work as it means I have to walk from Charing Cross down to Pacific Quay (20 minutes fast walk each way). Got mixed views on them anyway as they gave a massive quote for repairs to the car when someone ran into the back of me.

Another problem with winter tyres is they can push up your fuel usage severely depending on the car\tyre. Didn't know this until I was in getting tyres changed and the next customer was asking about them. The bloke in the tyre place was giving it big style about the benefits but had to admit the fuel use rise when asked. Luckely I'm in cambridgeshire so absolutely no need for them but for folk living in north Scotland especial in slightly more rural areas I think they are def worth thinking about

No, in the industrial estate (opposite where Real Radio are). Springhill MOT Station. The guy's name is Allan Stewart & he either stays in your estate or the next one along.

I've heard mixed reports about the one at the roundabout as well
