Dillinger
Sounds like a no bad time to me... My own best is 19.30, last year when I was out about 4 times a week. Since having a baby boy I've had slightly less time to get out and keep the fitness up...
Cove_Sheep
First half marathon for me today. Not been able to fit in as much training recently as I'd have liked. I'd hope to be down somewhere around 2:10/2:15 but will be happy enough with under 2:30.
Hessen
eh no. I am asking a question about getting the best out of the activity. Long distance running tends to lead to long distance jogging. I used to run half marathons which, for me, led to joint pains. Now I only do 10k maximum, and train off road or on astro turf. The only time i run on tarmac is at a race. My friend was an excellent runner when we were younger, now he can't run because of bad knees, and he did several marathons, and always trained on the road. So yes, running is good for your fitness but conversely, can be bad for your body.

Cove_Sheep
Best of luck. I'm assuming you're doing the Crathes HM? Indeed I am. I know I should be fine, although I really can't believe I've reached this day. Got a bit of a boost the other day when I reached my long-term weight goal of 89kg that I set when I was diagnosed diabetic at the start of last year and was 136kg. Also doing the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow next month.
in5omniac
Parkrun this morning: 21:50, a second slower than my PB
Cove_Sheep
Just over 2:06 in my half. I got a stitch at the 9 mile mark and couldn't shift it. Robbed me of a sub two hour.

Cove_Sheep
well done. Was it hot? Its about 20 down here. Thankfully it was quite cool all the way round. If it was warm I'd have been well and truly f*cked. Great Scottish Run in Glasgow next on the agenda for me.
Armchair Bob
Nice one Cove! I am thinking of Jedburgh half in November for my next race.
Cove_Sheep
My first official timed race was Parkun on 27th July last year and took 33:17. And here I am now slightly disappointed with 2:06 in a half marathon
scot scotland scottish
Park Run this morning and a new PB taking 10 seconds off my previous. Down to 22:39 now. Great Scottish HM in a few weeks, Jedburgh HM at end of October and the Southside Six (16 miles) in early Nov. Well done all fellow runners. Lots of good running stories :-)
Pool Q
Congleton parkrun on Saturday, full of the cold so slow time, but a nice route - two circuits of a lake in a park on the outskirts of the town.
in5omniac
Enjoy your Parkruns this weekend people , and any other running events. Loch Ness only a week on Sunday!
scot scotland scottish
Falkirk ParkRun tomorrow (assuming my 2 week old baby lets me!) and Cumbernauld 10k on Sunday for me. Happy running Tambers. Went for a run today actually and it cleared the hea a bit from last night's disappointment
in5omniac
Not a great Parkrun today, got an awful stitch about 3k in which scuppered me a bit. 22:25. 10 mile run tomorrow before a week of scattered shorter runs before the marathon. Pool Q
Signed up for Paris marathon next April. Always thought I'd stick to 10k and half-marathons. Apparently not.

deecie
I did my a chillies tendon in yesterday. Far from ideal timing. All in all, this has been a bad week.
Cove_Sheep
Got a good ten miles in on Monday this week. Sunday sees the River Ness 10k which might be fun after the Ryder Cup on Saturday. And then on to Glasgow next week for the half. Hopefully I can sneak in with a time under 2 hours.
deecie
I'm heading to Inverness on Sunday with a mutual associate, although not sure if i'll run yet. If I'm not 100% going to save myself for the week after. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that 2-weeks rest isn't the correct preparation for a half marathon. I've also found the perfect race for the day after the Ireland game.
