did it not just become more relevant recently given the antics at the recent Rangers v Hibs game? was that not the target of Spiers' article?

I'd have thought it was a newsworthy item on its own without any hassle at any game considering the ongoing atmosphere around Rangers and the press.

Look at the Kris Boyd mince that was published last week. The press like nothing more than reporting shite, so why wait?

The billy boys seems to have taken on some kind of mythical status as a hate song. As far as I am aware, it is a song with one word that is banned. That word is used in other Rangers songs but they don't seem to attract the same notoriety as the billy boys. Bit strange. If the banned word was substituted with Celtic, the song would be fine.

I agree it's not a stretch that Rangers directors would like the song. Most rangers fans like the song - i just wish the fans would drop the banned word and it would be fine!

Yup, it's something I've never been able to fathom. The Billy Boys has always been centre of attention, yet the fans have continued to sing 'Super Rangers' which includes the lyrics 'we hate Celtic Fenian b##@+;-s'.

Like you I wish it would just be dropped. As you will be aware though, too many of our fans don't think there is anything wrong with it, or don't care at least.

I'd imagine it's the mixture of the word fenian and being up to "our" knees in their blood that marks it out as a bit more distasteful than any of the others that just have the F word.

No, it's the word specifically, as it's now recognised as a derogatory term for a Catholic.

Other clubs sing about being 'up to their knees in blood' and there is no problem.

No I guess if they removed that one stupid word, then a song glorifying a member of the British Union of Fascists and founding member of a sectarian razor gang and a glasgow branch of the Ku Klux Klan would be perfectly acceptable right enough.

why you lot cant just sing about football i dont know.

Not that this matters but a huge number think they are singing about a different Billy entirely :)

I agree with you BTW.

Don't think the history matters to a lot of folks. Just see it as a method to wind the otherside up.

For example, look at whose side the pope was on when King Billy was doing his thing.

Sports Direct halt legal action against Rangers and agree to pay costs.

I wonder where Fat Mike's champions are tonight?

Seriously though, the criticism and language used by the judge really shows Sports Direct up for the sleazy operation that they are. I'd expect a slow retreat by Fat Mike, but hopefully he can be moved out quicker by this Board.

It'll be good to see the back of him.

The Club invested substantially pre-season in new player and management contracts. This was necessary to provide a team that could play attractive football while competing in the Championship with the aim of securing promotion to the Premiership next season. The players and management will continue to pursue these objectives for the balance of the season.

The Board also promised the manager he would have access to funds in the January transfer window if he felt players were available to bring in early and improve the overall squad in advance of next season. The manager has taken advantage of this opportunity and will also now commence the identification of players to further improve the squad during the close season.

Additionally, there has been substantial investment in Auchenhowie. This has resulted in the broken operation that we inherited last year now being fully-functional again. This entailed a complete revamp of the personnel, technology and infrastructure and further investment is planned.

There has also been necessary investment into the infrastructure and facilities at Ibrox. The stadium and its surrounds were severely neglected by prior Boards that were intent on massive cost-cutting measures. Further significant investment is required at Ibrox and the board is presently considering a programme of work to ensure that it is returned to its status as one of the best and most iconic stadiums in Britain. Given the scale of what is required this will take some time to complete.

A further unanticipated investment was made to pay off the Sports Direct loan and to recover all security held by Sports Direct. That has now been completed and the Club has formally given notice to end the relationship with Sports Direct while still reserving our right to proceed with challenges to the existing suite of contracts and side agreements in a court of law.

For the first time a Board of this Club has stood up to the threats of Sports Direct and has achieved resounding success in court proceedings including the substantial recovery of legal costs. Sports Direct’s motives were severely exposed when a High Court judge ruled that Sports Direct abused court processes in its attempt to bully the Club and me. We will continue to put Rangers first and ensure that we get redress and compensation for the poor commercial and business practices that the Club has been forced to endure.

Work is also ongoing to merge the existing supporters groups. The new organisation that emerges will provide Rangers fans with a way to get even closer to the Club and to increase the supporter shareholding position.

Overall, the Club is in a substantially better position – on and off the pitch – than it has been for some time. The Board continues to ensure that the Club is run within the balance required to secure success on the pitch while simultaneously funding the cash shortfall that is required until we have a sustainable business model.

The Club has not secured fair value for much of its expenditure over the last few years. Under the present Board that is no longer the case.

A not very well disguised 2 fingers up to Fat Mike in the middle there but otherwise all good news.

Nothing earth shattering but that's what we need just now.

But but but we haven't spent on the stadium according to posters on here. King oot

Things are looking a bit more promising.

Still think Rangers have a way to go on the park to compete with Aberdeen, hearts, Motherwell and the likes, never mind Celtic.

If you were really cynical, it's very vague about the work that's been done. Seems to be more operational work than actual repairs reading between the lines. (Which did need doing!)

wow 37-5

GIRFUY #4

A good result, 37 people selected for the only correct response and only 5 people are complete idiots who don't understand the basics of either logic or the English language - 6 if you include the person who put the poll up in the first place.
