Wayne Rooney Documentary On Bbc 1 ( Waynes World)

Thought he came across well. Seemed really grounded.

I didn't see the programme but that seems a bizarre comment given his actions. In particular, holding Man Utd to ransom a couple of times.

Taking what was printed in the papers at the time yes you'd be right.

But I imagine the truth will be somewhere south of the sensationalism printed and according to both Rooney and Ferguson the stories were nothing like what actually happened.

It seems that Rooney (egged on by an agent who stood to make £millions off the back of a Rooney transfer) submitted a transfer request then realised his error pretty quickly. His contract negotiation was due to happen anyway and after talking to Ferguson was happy to stay.

Of course that's their side of the story and who knows what's really true. But I know which would appear more likely.

Not sure what other time you're referring to re "holding United to ransoms couple of times"

The granny shagging, hookers, etc can't really be defended except he was much younger then and probably was capable of making mistakes the same as the rest of us.

I've never used a hooker (or shagged a granny!) but I'm sure many TA have - it's hardly the crime of the century.

He threw his toys out the pram in SAF last season due to being subby a lot. That was the second time he asked away. The initial request in 2010 was due to them not signing what he perceived to be good enough players.

Tbh I don't think 'holding them to ransom' is the correct term. No matter what happened he was going to get ridiculous wages and could have went anywhere in Europe at the time. 'Self centred little bitch' would be more accurate IMO.

That said he has definitely matured and also thought he came across very well last night. People are allowed to make mistakes and they can also change.

Hookers are Gid!!!

Reccomend a watch on the programme. Not the Engerland cringe fest I thought it was going to be.

Lol! I'll take your word for it!

I guess you can look at it two ways when a player throws his toys out of the pram when he isn't playing.

If I were a manager I'd hate to see any player just accept being dropped and I'd want to see a reaction. I'd be secretly smiling inwardly if one of my players took it badly. But there is a way to demonstrate your unhappiness and players need to be careful how they come across. Perhaps this is the biggest lesson Rooney needs to learn. It's not an even playing field out there.

Players like Rooney need to be extra careful as there's always extra scrutiny on every single move they make that wouldn't even be noticed in other players. The media will always tend to portray the likes of Rooney in a bad light when others would just be considered "hungry" and "he cares".

Rooney's biggest problem is that he's from a fairly "scummy" family from a "scummy" estate and he's no exactly the best looking laddie on earth. I use the word "scummy" not of my own thinking but that of the kind of papers that use that sort of portrayal of anyone not brought up in comfort and privilege and with chiselled good looks. This is the perception of him (and others) in certain quarters of the media - scummy kid made good - which has never applied to plenty others. A lot of it is jealousy that he's now worth shitloads more than they are despite his upbringing and that the "scummy people" should never be able to do better than them. Middle England is full of that kind (who bear little resemblance to the vast majority of ordinary decent English people) who have way too much voice and influence in proportion to their actual numbers within the country.

In some ways I feel sorry for Rooney and in others he did bring a lot of it on himself with his daftboyness but overall he seems to have grown up a bit and definitely seems more grounded now.

There are more deserving targets for the press to expose cretinous behaviour out there than Wayne Rooney.

Agree with much of the above but thought it was fairly boring stuff last night. I don't think you learned much at all. Think he's over conscious of the cameras on him

Probably. Was quite sterile and came across as almost guarded. But then again who's gonna blame him for that really?

Wasn't as insightful as you might have expected going by the trailers.
