Silent Protest At Georgia Match?

You don't get it.

International football is played by national teams.

Before yesterday we had a pseudo national team based on historic reasons, but last night the vast majority of people on Scotland said they wanted Scotland to be a region of the UK, and if you believe in democracy we are now confirmed as a region. as such regional teams should not play intensional football.

I'm certain some will say get a grip. But I can't see the fairness of Scotland being allowed a national team when other regions such as flanders, corsica, basque etc can not.

I think this is right.

How can we go to other countries now wearing our national dress, singing our national anthem when the opposing fans knew we never took the chance of becoming a real nation?

Now we're nothing more than German fans from Bavaria wearing lederhosen to their games. Playing pretendy-on at being a real country.

Lads I appreciate (if not understand) your devastation but you should see your national football team as a vehicle for nationalism.

You travel in bigger numbers than us and your behaviour is exemplary plus you've got a great sense of humour similar to ourselves.

Nothing will change that and I can understand you not taking pride in your anthem but your football team has nothing to do with a referendum result. If anything going to a Scotland football match is the one outlet you have to display your nationalism.

Why dont ye come up with banners that show your support for an independent Scotland. "We are the 45%" and all that

Thank you for that.

I am too raw to subscribe to anything right now but you make some good points. (WE ARE THE 45%)

You talk sense mate. I, like many others today, feel like i've lost some of my national identity. 45% of the country just feel deflated right now, so you probably won't find much in the way of reasonable, football - related discussion on here for a wee while.

I'm just hoping i can get myself back up for the coming games, i've got no enthusiasm towards the team at the moment.

No singing FoS for me. The words would choke me. The majority voted NOT to be a nation so pointless singing about it. The utter humiliation of the England and Ireland games are not for me either.

This will be the Scotland teams last qualifying campaign anyway so no need to worry for long.

Now I was as proud of my anthem as everyone else and think it had a huge effect on the players when played before the matches but after last nights shameful result personally I think the only thing positive that we can do when the anthem starts would be total silence bar the pipe band at the next home game v Georgia

Don't think it will take much organising as most won't sing anyway!!

Thoughts ( and please don't shoot me down in flames it's just a thought! )

bring back GSTQ ; more apt in the circumstances

To be honest lads with us there'll be slagging given our sharp sense of humour but with the English it'll have a nastier tone to it and way more condescending. I'd brace myself if I was you. We know full well the abuse/jeering McGeady and McCarthy will get so we'll respond in kind about your no vote but I'm sure there'll be no trouble and it seems the vast majority on here are the 45% so you certainly have our respect on a personal level.

Alba gu brath

I've been on this forum all day and you've been a credit. I genuinely feel for ye lads today.

I've got a hand-written copy of FoS framed on my wall, signed by Ronnie Brown. Right next to it is a big print of the Declaration of Arbroath. How the fukk am I supposed to look at them with any pride now?

Got a great pic yesterday of Ronnie Brown heading out to vote at Danderhall, and hugging the Yesser doing polling duty. It all seemed so rosy then.

I honestly cant believe everyone is just giving up. I voted no and had perfectly good reasons for doing so. I think we can be a nation again but the time isnt right just now . We are a divided nation as Glasgow proved last night. the only reason im not going to the games here is because of the pricing. What happened to "we'll support you ever more" ?

Some hugely counterproductive arguments on this board, If you still support independence why wouldnt you sing FOS at any point ,
For many the song is an independence song but for allot of people its just our national anthem.

Now should still be is a time for pride , Scotland is a country not a region - everyone knows that,

The football team has always been independent - we should cherish that , if you make your support for Scotland conditional then you diminish your own contribution and maybee you should question your own resolve ?

if you prefer I could say put the toys back in the pram pusssay's

Aye whatever, did anyone see the unionists burning the saltire? Aye makes me proud to be british right enough! Not..... but it makes me prouder that im part of the 45% that voted for my country to be independent.

wait till our nhs is privatised, front lines services cut, tax increases, and more wars on the horizon, not to mention a tory/ukip government, but remember you had your reason to vote no.

Totally agree..... I voted yes, but i was a no right up to that last minute so find it hard to be critical of those who did. It came down to an emotional rather than analytical decision for me. The main thing is that the momentum is carried forward... Achieving great things is never easy....

Well am not afriad to say i voted No. However my reasons were far different from the shit westminster feeded us days before it. This is not to say am any less proud to be Scottish, if i wasnt i wouldn't have spent the thousands of £ i have on travelling around Europe to support Scotland. I know i will get a lot of stick for being a No and will be told i have no right to support Scotland or sing the FOS, however i will continue to support Scotland in every event and will always be proud to be Scotttish and sing the FOS. This divide in the country has to stop and we need to pull together and Get behind Strachan and the lads to see us qualify for Euro 2016.

How can you possibly sing the anthem if you voted NO? You had your chance, you shat it.

This.

How can you possibly even contemplate singing "we can still rise now"?

You had the chance to do just that and shat it. If you voted No then you really have a cheek turning up at Hampden anyway. Surely you should be heading for your spiritual home at Wembley?

You're not Scottish. That nationality does not exist thanks to people like you. You're British.

for me, the heart has been ripped out of our nation with this no vote. don't know how anybody who voted no could possibly contemplate singing flower of Scotland!......would the irony be lost on these people!?

we had our chance to be a nation again but didn't take it. there are no good reasons for voting no, you either don't want Scotland to be independent or are selfish to the core.

this halfway house, best of both worlds p1sh that some no voters promote is pathetic. wanting to have your own identity as being Scottish but not believing that your fellow countrymen could run our nation is a sad viewpoint indeed!

i would have been more comfortable if a no vote had meant we became a region of England. for me Scotland is dead until we become a fully independent nation!
