It's going to be another 5 years at least. World Cups are extremely hard to qualify for these days given the limited places to European countries. If we can't overcome Ireland and Poland what chance Slovakia and Slovenia.

True, and the sad thing is - if i'm not mistaken - the next Euros are all over the place at different cities / countries.

So we might have missed our last realistic chance of going to a single country and camping up for 3 weeks of footballing joy.

I am 33 and the closest I have been to a major tournament was a school trip to France a week before The World Cup in 98. This was my last realistic chance for a wee while as priority shifts to starting a family over the next couple of years. If the 00's on the 10's were shit for Scotland, lets hope the 20's are better.

As above. 40 this year. Was getting married not long after France 98, so skipped it since cash was needed to buy a house, on the agreement, "next time." Doubt it'll ever come. Not sure there will ever be a next time. Not even sure I'll be back for the next campaign.

We don't have any young players coming through who look likely to change things. The youngest player in tonight's line-up was James Forrest who looks fairly ordinary.

I think that's a real problem. Twelve years ago when we did get to the play offs we had the likes of McFadden and Fletcher coming through but now we don't have anyone like that knocking on the door.

If Northern Ireland and wales can qualify for euros, no reason why we can't. There is no telling what our team will be like in 10 years but we certainly have to be beating teams like Georgia home and away if we want to go to tournaments.

Like Poland in the 80's ?
