Cutting to the chase... If The Rangers are still in existence, and if The Rangers don't fall foul to a 25 point administration penalty, and if The Rangers make the Championship play-offs, do you think that they can take Falkirk (who just handed Hearts their first loss of the season) over 2 legs?

We're under no illusions, this thread was another piece of sarcasm on my part, we're still miles behind Hearts in terms of points and footballing ability. I understand that.

I'd say so. Our results against Falkirk over the last few years have been 4-1, 1-3, 0-2, 0-2, 3-0, 0-1

I reckon Hibs would beat them first of all anyway.

Hibs at home to Raith next Saturday while The Rangers are in the semi of the League Cup.

A Hibs win would see them sit in second and bump The Rangers to third.

(Cup tie on paper not looking too promising either.)

with 3 games in hand.

The tiresome.

You have a wee team, and you have Rangers. Correct?

Congratulations to Scotty for breaking his own record for the most mentions of "The" Rangers in one post. Credit where it's due!!

I've kept my word.

'The The', down to 'The'.

with 3 games in hand.

True, however, financial problems, in-fighting, and lame duck manager aside, I'm discussing the very real prospect of the psychological effect of The Rangers slipping into third (and potentially facing playing another play-off round) and being humiliated by their despised arch enemy on the very same day.

Edit to say that I will be cheering for The Rangers on Sunday.

Think the players will know they have 3 games in hand as well.

So Aberdeen have an easier go at the final

I'll be cheering on DU on Saturday

My goodness, no.

Ideally, The Rangers v Celtic fixture wouldn't be taking place.

But since it is, I would like the violence kept to as close to zero as possible.

I don't want Celtic to paste you.

I see no good coming from that.

Unfortunately there has to be a loser.

I'm not thinking about the football as in as much I am the fall-out.

Realistically there can be no good outcome.

The lesser of evils, IMHO, would be a The Rangers narrow win (hence my choice).

Incorrect, but I forgive your mistake given your simple view of the world.

Heaven and Hell. God and Satan. Believers and non-believers. Celtic/Rangers fans and Non Celtic/ Rangers fans. Always one extreme or the other.

The whiter than white pre or post cup final cries of "Come on Killie!" or "Well done the Saints!" sit awkwardly with the intolerance you display for basic human "failings".

Some Celtic and Rangers fans (from the stands all the way to the boardroom) are bigots. They sing and act in an offensive and politically incorrect manner.

Were these people born with those views? Of course not.

My introduction to professional football in Scotland was as a ten year old. I got on the Celtic bus at the Auld Shank in Ballingry on the way to watch Premier League games at Celtic Park and stood on the old East terrace at Hampden to watch the Old Firm League Cup Final - all in the 1977-1978 season.

Like some dark, football related, religious indoctrination process, environmental peer pressure dictated that you sing the same songs as your dad, your uncle, your older brother, your grandad. Are these people "bad" people? Of course not. These fans make up the club. Does that make the club a "bad" club? Of course not.

To think otherwise - now that's a human failing.

As always, education and the desire to change things are the key.

How many hours a year do you spend on these boards taunting, being bitter, negative?

What waste of a time - and this life.

Thank God, you've a second one lined up.

Incorrect, but I forgive your mistake...

I'm trying to decipher the clues that you are giving (and not giving) me.

Signed,

Non-Rangers/ Celtic fan.

You're saying what you're not.

Why don't you just say what you are?

...given your simple view of the world.

Heaven and Hell. God and Satan. Believers and non-believers.

My worldview could be explained in fairly straightforward terms or in very complex terms.

(Is that what this is about?)

Celtic/Rangers fans and Non Celtic/ Rangers fans. Always one extreme or the other.

Celtic and Rangers would be the extremes.

(There are many other baggage-free options.)

The whiter than white pre or post cup final cries of "Come on Killie!" or "Well done the Saints!"

I believe that it's healthy for the honours to go round and am genuinely happy for any non-OF fan when their time to celebrate eventually comes around.

(The Saints beat us btw. I was happy to wish them well.)

...sit awkwardly with the intolerance you display for basic human "failings".

What basic human "failings"? The ugly OF stuff? (Guilty on all charges.)

Some Many Celtic and Rangers fans (from the stands all the way to the boardroom) are bigots. They sing and act in an offensive and politically incorrect manner.

Were these people born with those views? Of course not.

We agree. They were taught. The haters led and indoctrinated.

Are these people 'good' people, then?

I'm under no illusions.

It would definitely take brave, wise, decent folk to stand against the tide (and sadly there's not enough of them).

It's much easier to love 'us' and hate 'them'.

These fans make up the club. Does that make the club a "bad" club?

I'm probably not the best person to ask.

To think otherwise - now that's a human failing.

Stand up and walk away from the herd.

'Weakness' is the (common) human failing.

As always, education and the desire to change things are the key.

The 'education' comes from the families and the football grounds where this stuff festers.

And the only 'desire' is to get one over on the cross-town rival.

How many hours a year do you spend on these boards...

I multi-task.

...being bitter, negative?

Well, despite taking tons of abuse I aim to never return in kind while remaining happy and positive. :)

What waste of a time - and this life.

Nah, I've been able to meet lots of folk from here in loads of different places.

Thank God, you've a second one lined up.

Amen. It's the best news anyone could ever get! :ok:

Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but Falkirk were well worth the win yesterday. We started with two half-fit forwards, and a few seem to be believing some of the publicity and looked to stroll through a game that we were pretty much always second best in. Outfought throughout, Falkirk scored a couple of good goals. Defence was shaky throughout, McGhee had a terrible game and (something I am surprised to find myself saying) we really missed Ozturk. Thought we had a decent shout for a penalty, but ultimately got what we deserved. Hopefully will be a wake up call to everyone, we have a big lead but even so can't afford to play like that every week.

I thought it was light banter.

If I've gotten under your skin, then I apologise, and will try not to upset you in the future.

I hope you're day job is as a fire and brimstone preacher. It appears to be your perfect role.

By your account a wee boy with a Dad who sings sectarian songs is at fault for copying despite that being the genetic model of the animal we are?

You and your Bible thumping pals are what's wrong with this world. The raw essence of the Rangers Celtic hatred is religion and not football.

Perhaps if we banned the fictitious dreams of ancient story tellers the world could be cleaned up for us decent people.

I don't blame you for your bigoted beliefs, I'm sure you were taught them by your parents when you were young and impressionable.

Almost forgot. The true sheep in this world are those that blindly believe that a big bogey man in the sky exists for no other reason than an old book says so.

Wow Scotty you certainly rustled some jimmies. you talk about club they talk about you and your family.

I like the claim that singing bigoted songs is actually a heredity phenotypic trait, that one certainly requires me tip my Fedora, gold, pure gold.

I apparently have this knack of taking people out of their comfort zone.

Telling you the Truth is the most loving thing that I can do.

No, never said anything close to that. I do believe that parents should be (shudder) responsible in the example they set though.

You and your Bible thumping pals are what's wrong with this world.

Bible-believing Christians give their time and money to society. It was Christians that started the very idea of hospitals.

The raw essence of the Rangers Celtic hatred is religion and not football.

People fight.

If it isn't for one thing then it would be another.

'Us' v 'Them' is all they need.

Any excuse is good enough.

The 'Bloods' and the 'Crips' fight over 'red' and 'blue'.

Nothing more.

Perhaps if we banned the fictitious dreams of ancient story tellers the world could be cleaned up for us decent people.

My ancient book says that you will get to experience a world without Christians.

I don't blame you for your bigoted beliefs, I'm sure you were taught them by your parents when you were young and impressionable.

I wasn't taught the Bible by my parents. My Christian walk is only 8 1/2 years old.

Almost forgot. The true sheep in this world are those that blindly believe that a big bogey man in the sky exists for no other reason than an old book says so.

I take God at His Word.

My human experience only backs this up.
