  1. Last appointment was scandalous and set us back ten years. There should be some accountability for that. Unlike the last one, this appointment is based on merit and is great news. Best candidate by far IMO. SFA did the right thing, albeit under intense pressure. Squad is there for us to qualify. Only way is up.
  2. Could have had clarke signed up six weeks ago. Killie would have let him see the season out Either way the delay sacking mcleish was shambolic and also pretty horrible for McLeish himself with all the speculation and innuendo.
  3. Lack of info seems to point to Clarke (hopefully) or at least McInnes. Both would be reluctant to go public before such an important week. Understand the current delay but it never should’ve got to this. it’s the near month it took to sack McLeish that’s the total joke. Arguably the single most important task the blazers have and it didn’t even warrant a special meeting. Complete shambles. Top clubs go through the whole process in a couple of days.
  4. Good stuff. Agree clarke is better disagree it’s much of a muchness between him and mcinnes. Just think the latter will be underwhelming and won’t fill stadiums. He’s done well consistently at Aberdeen but they are the third biggest club in the country and during his time hibs, hearts and rangers have all been in a mess. He would also be leaving them in a bit of a mess. Better than a lot of candidates (and the last bloke) but doesn’t come close to clarke imo.
  5. Killie neck and neck with aberdeen. Do you not think that’s a bigger achievement for Killie? Judging by the end of season awards, the vast majority of football folk think so. Clarke is not the best manager in the world but I reckon it’s clear he’s better than McInnes and the other options and scotland affording and attracting him should never be an issue. Did he refuse you an autograph when you were wee or are you a season ticket holder at somerset park? Mon, tell us.
  6. Agreed. Done better down south, done better up here, worked under the world's best. Would bring much needed momentum as well as better management. No-brainer.
  7. I think he wants it. Plenty managers have ruled themselves out in the past, and this time. Fair enough, we can't be sure he wants it but the important question is - do you think he should be offered it before McInnes?
  8. He pretty much has said he wants it by not ruling himself out when given a direct opportunity regularly over the last month. In this type of situation that's the best you get. Some say explicitly they don't want it but none says, yes I really want it now, apart from Yogi Hughes. He's the best candidate and can easily live in England and do the job.
  9. McInnes now even money. Big move on the odds today. Would be a weebit uninspiring. Did really badly in England. Has done well with Aberdeen, but probably only a bit better than expected, and is leaving the squad in bad shape for next season. McInnes still a better choice than McLeish, Gemmill, Mckay or Moyes, but Stevie Clarke has a better record than Mcinnes in England and Scotland and had also worked under some of the best managers in the world. Should be Clarke.
  10. Hope you're right but this is pretty much the same crew that made the last appointment on the cheap, doing an old mate a favour despite the fact they knew it would cost massive amounts of lost cash in empty stadiums. I know a lot of folk who are holding off on buying tickets for the cyprus game until the new manager is announced. If it isn't clarke or bilic or some big name from left field to excite everyone, then the place will be empty. I reckon a good appointment could put an extra 20,000 in the crowd, especially with it being a saturday. That's a hell of lot of extra ticket money for one game against a small team. That alone justifies not doing it on the cheap, never mind the different financial league that tournament qualification puts us in.
  11. More a case of who’s likely to be offered the job. I think Clarke would take it if they wanted him. Deliberately made positive noises and he could easily move back down south to be with family most of the time. A few commentators saying that compensation for kilmarnock could block it which is just mental when the cheap option loses many time more than that money in ticket sales alone.
  12. Moyes is better than gemmill or mckay but he’s on the dole for a reason. Clarke would create momentum and sell tickets.
  13. Odds on Moyes just shortened massively...
  14. Risk is increased by appointing a candidate with no/poor record. Gemmill is less of a risk then me but a bigger risk than clarke or bilic. Gemmill has not done well with the 21s and has done nothing else. Saying every appointment is a risk is just stating the obvious. Reduce the risk by making an appointment based on merit rather than a jobs for the boys one.
  15. What’s your point? So let’s not bother appointing the best candidate?
