ankles
Got the wife's 50th in feb and looking for somewhere special. Been a few cruises over the last couple of years which were amazing, but looking for something different . Only problem is that a cruise ship wipes the floor with a hotel.Anyone been anywhere special ?

All 3 were stunning places for different reasons. India is the only trip I could say that rivalled it. If you simply want two weeks of absolute luxury I would think The Maldives is hard to beat although I've never been. Failing that get her over to Benidorm. Nothing says 'I love you' like a visit to Sticky Vicky does!!

Shotts56
Dubai? Direct flights from Glasgow, stunning hotels and restaurants +1 Its not everyone's cup of tea, but the hotels are generally out of this world. I like the Grosvenor House Hotel there, but Le Royal Meridien next to the beach is also very very good. If you want to blow her socks off, book dinner at the restaurant at the top of the Burj Al Arab. Did it last week, stupidly expensive (about £500 for dinner for the two of us), but the kobe beef, the setting, the view and the service was unlike anything I had every experienced before. McTeeko
Couldnae pay me to go to Dubai. No history, no culture, just a pile of sand 30-odd years ago. Playground for millionaires ?
arbroath55
Last 3 Winter sunshine holidays we`ve done were South Africa, Sri Lanka & Thailand. I'm at that stage in life when I've got my tick list of places to go and I think Vietnam is next, however I am going back to South Africa in 2016 - loved it plus the £1 is 20% stronger than when we went in 2012 and it was good value then
