Flags Nicked

Been talking to the ultras via Facebook messaging for most of the evening....the mod made a page showing my appeal for the return of the flags but some of it is lost in translation but the comments were 80-20 in favour of returning flags....moderator has private messaged me now as a friend saying he had to remove comments due to pressure from hard liners in the groups.....on the Facebook edition of the link there are over 300 likes from Poles......in the main they are still undecided what will happen to all the flags but we may see some as a gesture as he said they were mistakenly taken and should have been guarded better....they have a different mentality over flags and battle over ownership of them to gain the kudos over rival groups....If any flags are returned they wish it to be done discreetly in order to protect the name of the group returning them, I know this may infuriate some people but at times you have to oblige to achieve...I have played heavily on the good spirit of the TA, the donation made by TASA and the fact that we respect each other's national flag....this is not a club issue......I was grilled about my Celtic connection due to my name similarity and they checked out my FB profile to see my St.Mirren pics and posts......I also have asked them to look on a map at the locations on the flags that have them and they will see they are all non-Glasgow.....if the is to be any movement then I will know soon, the flags have been taken from the groups who "captured them" until a decision is made......keep the faith and I will keep trying

Great effort guys. even if we got one flag back it will be worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Dubai TA are ordering a new flag, made of finest Arabian silk with 24 carat gold leaf lettering :wink2::wink2:

Tiblisi Ultras will probably be the first to have the opportunity to steal it.

Tell them to wait until the Irish are over - they'll get plenty of Celtic flags then !!!

This is true they will have a great time bumping them.

Great work Davy would be amazing if we got anything back.

DTA one went the same way, although to my knowledge hasn't appeared on any of the ultras photos upside down yet. Police stood and watched them do it, 2 of our guys went and chased him down to the riverfront.... the police then turned up and asked a few Polish folk drinking by the river/beach to turn out there pockets :um-no::wtf: ...........!

I sat outside a bar in the square and watched some young Poles taking a saltire of a fence, The owners who I think may have been from Arbroath came out the bar and started reasoning with them not to steal it. Eventually they came to a compromise that the Poles could take a photo of the upside down flag which they did,

It was actually a bit embarrassing if truth be told for the daft Poles but more so the meek foot soldiers. Some of them were saying to their mates ''just let them have the dam flag''

The thing is fellas if you let them take your flags then where does it end? The Eastern Europeans I reckon see the TA as a soft touch. A large group of people who they can bully and know there will be no retribution. Everyone goes on these trips to enjoy themselves and nobody wants any hassle but when you are getting victimised some times you really do have to stand up for yourselves. If not its just going to get worse. What if the Georgians want your wallets and mobiles? Are you just going to hand them over?.....Cmon chaps get up grip and stop being every little scumbags easy victim.

Hope all the guys who had their flags pinched get them back. I never personally saw any of it happen in Poland, but our group were chatting to some boys from the east of Fife on matchday who had mentioned they'd seen it happen.

We had two flags with us and lost one. It is a wee flag and easily replacable, but thought I'd ask if anyone may have seen it. We were staying two minutes from Klub Harenda (plenty of Larbert TA in there after the match) and we had our flag put up inside the pub by the cracking staff on Monday. We left it there to match day and it was fine, and we thought we'd be able to pick it up again on Wednesday. It wasn't there but we don't know what happened to it - it may easily have been misplaced / lost or maybe someone's found it if it came off the wall and picked it up for safekeeping.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask if anyone knows what may have happened to it - it's just a saltire with "Kincardine Bridge Tartan Army Supporters" - can you ping me a pm? I expect its just been lost and we'll get another made, but thought I'd ask anyway. :ok:

It was still staple gunned to the wall when we left Klub Harenda at 04:30 after the game.

Doesn't sound like the Arbroath guys I know. They would have hired the local mafia to look after the flag.

I was told the Angus unwashed got their flag stolen from round the corner from the Tortilla Factory.I heard they tried to get it back but thats when the knives came out. They taped Wiltosh to an umbrella stand outside the Tortilla Factory in the hope they would pinch him but nae luck.

Its shite when a standard is taken. I mind when our saltire was taken at Euro 92 in the old Scotball days. It was a huge saltire still dont know the exact size. Came from the Goodyear factory in Drumchapel. We had it at Wembley in the late 70's. Hung out the hotel at Norrkoping must have covered at least 4 rooms. English went on the riot after playing Sweden. The flag had been fine for days but that night the Sweedish casuals in Norrkopping took it. By the time we got down they had disappeared over the river. We got to it in time before the flames had took hold. We got the local press involved and all the burnt holes were covered up by other flags. It can be seen gracing the whole rear of the Scotland section at the Russia game and we were delighted when the SFA sent out a print showing the Tartan Army with our Saltire in the background.

Hope you get the flags back and maybe the local press could help. There will be a journo close to them...

Thomo what actualy happened was that a wee ned ran past the pub and grabbed the flag.3 boys noticed this happen and chased him but when they got round the corner there was a dozen poles waiting to ambush.A few punches were thrown and the 3 were chased back to the pub where some chairs and tables were thrown.I can assure you no one said "let them have the dam thing"

seen one get nicked outside molly malones in old town, wee ned just took off with it. These things happen all the time east of germany, as sad as it is.

We maybe shouldnt just assume we always have free run to take over town centres mind you, specially not in these places.

from posts ive seen on fb etc seems like the beef was with Celtic more than TA tho.

Gimps anyway

Rangers fans did that to us yesterday outside ibrox 4 of them against 1 young lad who was waiting for us to catch him up.Not 1 steward or police man did anything so its not only poland where these things happen.

Aye they did the same at Somerset last year, nicking a large flag belonging to some of the young Ayr lads. Also beat up a young Ayr fan walking back to supporters bus after Ibrox game. Probably the Vanguard Bears aka the Sons of Struth Yoof! Ironically probably fully dressed from Sports Direct :wink2: .
