Indeed

Theres no question England's bid was superior to Russia's in every way.

But of course it matters not how good your bid is or whether or not you'd actually put on a good and well organised tournament. These are but minor considerations.

The fact that England haven't hosted a World Cup since 1966 is a disgrace frankly.

Brasil had to wait 64 years. Russia have never hosted it before. Seems fair enough to me.

Henry Winter made a good point on Sunday Supplement this morning when he said the FA should forget about bidding for World Cups and make their priority developing players that could give England a chance of progressing into the latter stages of a tournament.

The wasted millions on tournament bids should be spent on grassroots

Hard to disagree
