Half Way Through

That's a lot of ifs and buts there.

True, but same applies to Ireland, and after last night, maybe even Poland also now.

From Scottish perspective, 1 win and 2 draws from those 3 games should be enough for us (without even bring the Germany game (anything from that is a bonus) and Gibraltar away).

Think this group is going to go right to the wire (with 4 teams after 3 spots in the last couple of matches)

If you're looking at it from an Ireland perspective - Scotland (h), Gilbraltar (a) and Georgia (h) is a right good chance to get 9 points.

This is what I keep going back to in my head. Ireland and Georgia away and Germany and Poland at home are all really tough games for us. I've been through this too many times to not expect a slip up at some point.

True, but not as tough overall as Germany and Poland away and Ireland at home.

Ireland are jammy. Three late late goals have saved them from meltdown. They could've been fifth.

OR

It means that they don't know when they're beaten and they fight to the last whistle and earn their own "luck".

The difference with last night is we should have scored way before we did. The Germany and Georgia goals were (somewhat) undeserving goals based on performances that didn't justify the result. Last night's (2nd half) performance more than justified the last minute goal.

The header aside I don't think yous created many clear cut chances.

Did they not hit the post/bar 3 times in the 2nd half?

The header was one and the other I remember was the deflected cross, not really a chance per say. Coleman had a half chance as well. Ireland played better in the second half, how much was it because Poland were poor I don't know. Draw was a fair result.

We were very bad against Georgia.

We were bad against Germany

We were SHOCKING against Scotland

We were bad for the first 20 minutes or so until Hoolahan was dropped back into midfield last night.

Our poor performance in the qualifiers so far is not down to us being a poor team, but our negative (hoof ball) tactics in the majority of games.

As has been said before, there's not much between the 3 teams on their day. I feel confident that last night ushered in a more permanent role for Hoolahan and binning of the long ball tactics. Will be a different Irish team to Glasgow next month.

Should we not score in final minutes if given the opportunity? Would that make us less Jammy in your eyes? Is the game not to be played until the final whistle is blown?

Enlighten me please ...............

We had nearly 60% possession against the Poles last night ...we had 13 shots to their 6, we had 5 corners to their 1.

We hit the post twice , we had poland penned into their own half for the entire second half , a half in which they didnt have 1 shot on our goal.................we got outplayed for the first 30 mins and the Poles deserved their lead......but after the 30 min , the tide began to change in our favour and we started to believe and play....and we dominated them for pretty much the rest of the game.

If you call that Jammy then you have a very different meaning to jammy than I do.,

The Poles were lucky to get out of Dublin with a Point come the final whistle, but they did so my congrats to them and their fans

I was very impressed with Irelands second half performance last night, they battered Poland and definitely deserved their draw irrespective of when the goal came. Poland, despite having some big lads, didn't seem to match up to Ireland physically in the second half. What it does show is that Poland are beatable if you have a right go at them. We did enough in Warsaw to show we can cause them similar problems to Ireland. It also shows we will have to be totally up for it come Dublin in June. I was pleased with the way we competed with Ireland in November but we are going to need another 90 minutes of that in the next game.

fair to say its all up for grabs and it will probably go to the wire, there is an awful lot of football to be played before anything is decided.

the only firm statement i would make is that if we beat ireland they are effectively oot, and we are guaranteed at least 3rd place (provided we don't have a major melt down).

that would also go some way to getting some of the points back that poland unexpectedly gained against germany.

i would question poland's mentality and ability to close games out and take 3 points. they are technically very good and have the best striker in the whole group, but beyond that? not sure - draw specialists me think.

you could argue similar for us mind you, winning big games when we have to is not our speciality.

at least its fun and exciting this time, last campaign we were out after what 3/4 games?

I'd agree with much of this. Poland were the better side in the first half and Ireland dominated the second half without being outstanding but deserved their equaliser most definitely. When the equaliser comes it matters not one jot - it was deserved and that is all that matters.

If ye beat us in Dublin....we are gone.

In the real world .... a win is what we need against ye and we must go for it against ye.

Polands style of football isnt particulary impressive or technical considering the quality of some of there players. Add in the fact they spent the majority of the second half last night diving and feigning injury in a bid to slow the tempo of the game down as we were on top of them...some pretty dishonest stuff from them tbh

If ye believe in yereselves...ye can beat them in Hampden. We pressed their midfield last night and it allowed us to dominate and keep them penned back for long periods.

Im not going to try predict how it will all end....but as you say....it will be exciting
