Strange alright, seen loads of flags knocking about facebook before the tournament but they weren't to bee seen in France. Worst i seen was that one with the weather reporter Theresa Mannion, thankfully wasn't seen in any ground

Summed up perfectly. Would be wrong for Irish fans to think we're now a football powerhouse. Thankfully with the Euros expansion, rubbish is now able to qualify handily for the tournament. Main difference for me between today's Ireland team vs 4 years ago is a manager who believes in them and probably one of the most tightly knit squads in Europe. No world class players just a bunch of above average mid table PL and championship players who believe in themselves. I was surprised how easily we turned over Bosnia over the two legs. Before the Germany game Ireland had not beaten a team ranked higher than them in FIFA rankings since 2001!! Crazy stat! We managed to overcome that twice this campaign

Not a bad idea but I imagine them pesky Bosnians will be first preference if we drop out

The cost, stress, logistical problems of going. Flights from Ireland already sky rocketing. Already hvaing arguments with mates over the cheapest way to do it flying vs driving. Lots of people in my job looking to go which means everyone getting time off will be a problem. The price of hotels and beer in France. Tickets going on sale just before Christmas which doesn't help the wallet. Lots of band-wagoners going who'll try snap up tickets and who wouldn't know the names of half the starting XI. Irish football fans travelling to France wearing Irish rugby jerseys. Irish fans singing 'Fields of Athenry' when we're getting thumped by Spain 4-0

If anyone receives irish tickets that they're looking to offlaod please let me know. I know its early days yet

Ireland grassroots is shocking, provably one of the worst systems in Europe. We're a sports mad country and have to compete with Gaelic sports which is massive. If gaelic sports didnt exist we probably would have a real good footballing nation a la Croatia. Our national clubs are awful. Only one or two would finish in bottom half of the SPL I recon
