  1. Good luck with Etape Royale on almost no training. I've been racing all year and wouldn't go near some of those hills.Aberdeen Wheelers do regular Sunday runs during the winter ,also a few triathletes in the club as well.
  2. Aye ,53 next week or so I'm told. I have competed at a fairly high level at masters in Italy and Denmark and I know one of the guys I raced against did get caught and banned. I'll stick to kendal mint cake and jelly babies though.(well maybe something a bit more technical but legal)
  3. They haven't invented the drug yet that would qualify me for out of competition testing.
  4. Exactly, the rules are supposed to be tight. I was racing on Sunday and did a quick check before leaving to see if there was a drug check. Now never in my 30 years of racing have I seen dope control at a race but they were there on Sunday. I wasn't required to pee in a bottle. But if I had left and was required it would have been a 2 year ban for missing a test at a wee event in the West of Scotland. No excuses would have got me out of it.
  5. And the most important part. What gear an old car required to get up the hill.
  6. It was on e bay and it was a letter by Comptom McKenzie from his home on Capri to somebody who had sent a script to him. Think it cost me about £2 .
  7. https://weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2016/02/02/the-better-together-tax/
  8. It's not unusual in the NHS. Many staff will either do bank or agency shifts either within the NHS or private sector.
  9. The overlapping wheels is very important or you will at some point end up on the road along with a few others probably.
  10. Best to get off on the right foot right away. There are few things more unpopular in the bunch in winter than someone with no mudguards. And no one wants to be hanging off the back of the bunch.
  11. Still done more miles on the watt bike than the road bike, hope that changes soon.
  12. I haven't ridden a 12 hour since I was in my early 20s. So thats my target for this year. Maybe time or old age has made me forget just how brutal it was.
  13. Been doing this for years,Can get stuck for months and then one wee bit of information and your off again. Family name is a Galoglas name so originally Scottish before ending up in Co Cavan. Lot of ancestors from Galway,Mayo , Sligo and Dundee. Notable findings. One who served in the court of King James in Paris ,another who was a cavalry officer with Jacobite troops in the French army. One who was hung at the end of the 18th century for making pikes, and probably using them as well. However often it's the ones who have done nothing special who can be the most interesting to find.
  14. Can't believe it.I actually got a Lynx gift set . The aroma of Africa apparently ????
  15. It doesn't matter how bad things get,how many folk use food banks, how many have their benefits cut and even how much lottery money is nicked we would still be told it would have been much much worse if we had voted YES. Who knows we might have surprised everyone and been able to sort the mess out ourselves.
