Rodgers isn't a bad manager, but he's not a great one either. Had one good season with Liverpool mainly thanks to a world class player that they now no longer have. A team like Aston Villa or Spurs would suit Rodgers better.

Some of the stuff he came out with on that Liverpool documentary was funny in a cringeworthy way. Especially when he was making those stupid speeches or monologues and trying to make himself appear intelligent and profound for the cameras. The best was when he was told the players - "the only people you can trust are yourself and your teammates.... and your coaches......... and your families..... and your doctor...... and your dentist ........ and your postman........ and your window cleaner........ and your plumber...........". He was like Jim's Dad from American Pie giving him advice on sex :-))

and what the hell was that thing with the envelopes and the player who would let him down all about ?

Koeman next for Liverpool ?

Liverpool are an absolutely abysmal side to watch at the moment, the blind loyalty to the players gets on ma tits sometimes, you've got players like Henderson who are just plain gash who get picked every week cos they have a price tag to live up to... one day... in the future... Liverpool will do nothing with pish poor players like him and Allen etc etc in it. Deserved to be pumped out, I was expecting a heavy defeat, I suppose that's something...

Apparently post Suarez and post Bale Liverpool and Spurs have spent a combined total of over 250 million !!! Given you couldn't put a team together from the pair of them that would get close to the EPL or Champs League it says much for their hapless transfer policy and indeed the overinflated transfer market in the English top flight. And the fact is both will have to spend massive amounts again as what they have brought in has been totally underwhelming.

It was a brilliant free-kick, but frankly Gerrard was rank throughout the game.

He's lost that burst of pace he had over the first 15 yards, and he's trying to compensate for it by spreading hopeless hollywood passes left, right and centre. I think the time has come for him to take a step back, becuase it can't be long before he's pushed out.

To be fair to Gerrard he has spent his career spraying hopeless Hollywood passes left right and centre. But he has usually dug himself out with other areas of his game. But as you say he has now lost a bit of pace and he has also lost a bit of his "engine" in that come 70 mins or so in he becomes quite static and can't get around the pitch like he used to. I noticed that a fair bit towards the end of last season when they were going for the title and he was playing every game.

I don't know whats left for him. Most players of his age can drop back a bit, play deeper, but he has never been the best of tacklers when he had his pace so not sure if that would be best for him.

Its interesting to see the player who he was usually most compared with, Frank Lampard, still continuing at the top level due to being used more sparingly by Chelsea and Man City over the last 2-3 season. Maybe thats what needs to happen with Gerrard. The one difference however seems to the players who Chelsea and Man City can call on as first choice in midfield in comparison to who Liverpool can meaning Gerrard is still practically an automatic play most game pick for Liverpool. That could end up cutting a couple of years of his career.

Whilst Gerrard has been a great servant to club & country, I have always thought that he can go out his way to "do" some of his opponents, I don't think he's a hard player, just a bit on the dirty side ?
