Recommend A Book For Christmas

The Tartan Special One.

It's the book on that funny blog written by a Dundee fan to parody Leigh Griffiths time at Dens. I've just finished it and it had me in stitches. :-))

Awwww, i must buy this.

The real Leigh Griffiths blog was absolute genius! Anyone know if it's still available?

I think he went subscription only for a while but not sure what happened after that. I suppose he realised that he might be able to make some money out of it, which is fair enough. As you say "absolute genius". I am just guessing it is the same guy that wrote this book, but not sure?

It is the same guy and trust me he doesn't hold back in the book. His portrayal of Jocky Scott is hilarious. My book arrived here at my house with a piece of paper attached that was meant to be from Jocky in the book. It had my name attached to it and a piece from Jocky about me staying in Illinois! It was a nice touch from the author to go personal like that given there must be a few names he had to go through.

That's not the real Leigh Griffiths blog though, is it?

That's a seperate thing?

No, it is. Everything in it from the wee laddie fresh out of Leith to him poking fat manky birds from Dundee. The whole thing with his lovelife centred around this "lassie" Charlotte is top quality comedy. There's quite a good thing throughout the book about Rab Douglas too.

Doesn't actually say on it if it's the same as the blog or different, I'll buy it anyway.

Aren't you in the usa, ormond? Our postage costs would combine to more than us both buying a book

Laura Hillenbrand is one of the best non-fiction writers out there, and one of the best researchers in the world. She's pretty ill though so doesn't release much.

If you're into sport/war biographies you can't go wrong. Don't be put off by the film Seabiscuit, the book is excellent (and I hate horse racing). Unbroken is as good as The Forgotten Highlander.

Or you could always buy one of these for all your family and friends:
