Opting for Glasgow versus Bath instead - making the decision a lot easier

Are Catholics (especially the Irish) who died fighting with the British and Commonwealth forces in WW1 and WW2 deemed worthy of remembrance by "ra peepul" ?

Not got a problem with the armed forces, these lads and lassies have my total respect, hell I even tried to join myself when I left school. However it's just the fact that Armed Forces Day has become an exercise in the most awful Americanised, jingoistic nonsense (as best exemplified at Ibrox) that I object to.

The Unionists sem to think they have the monopoly on Remeberance, because only THEY truly suffered.

I was in the forces for 14 years and my dad was for 22 years. Both of us would have been really hacked off to have been asked to stand around like lemons at sporting events. I never felt the need to be hailed as a hero during my time, I was quite happy with a drink, women, and not being attacked by civvies! I can also say that just because these 'heroes' are in uniform doesnt make them worthy of respect, take it from me, a hell of a lot of tossers slip through the selection net.

Neds with guns shouting no surrender at each other.

Lest we forget

Don't tar us all with the same brush. I've been asked several times now if I wanted to be part of the Ibrox shenanigans and have always turned it down because I don't want to be associated with it - I even had a stooshie a couple of years ago with a guy I worked with because he was one of the eejits in uniform bouncing up and down in front of the Broomloan Stand. The only Forces parades I've ever taken part in are Remembrance ones.

Nail on head, lots of wanks in the army, especially the ones who think on a night out in town that it gies them some sort of right to act like dickheads to everyone elsae. My neighbour served for about 25 years and voted yes, would he be disowned by the Rule Britania brigade? probably.

My Dad was in the forces for 20 years, flew in the Falklands (although not actually in combat), and finds the whole 'heroes' thing completely baffling. It was just a job to him.

Very many of us feel the same. Whilst proud of our service we see no need for us to be treated like we're owed something.

Remember that this has got little or nothing with 'honouring heroes'.

It's get everything to do with these cnuts and their twisted view of 'loyalism'. Just look at some of these comments on RM....it's all about keeping their 'traditions'.

Shower of arseholes, the sh*te on Scotland's shoes.
