Sa V England

England have got SA at a good time. Low on confidence after being hammered in India, Amla and de Villiers off form and Philander, and now, Steyn injured. Looks like de Villiers won't keep wicket in the rest of the series so that should help his batting. However, England also likely to be stronger with Anderson back.

Good to see James Taylor doing well. Should have been a regular for 2 or 3 years now but treated really poorly by the previous management despite scoring loads of runs for his county and the England Lions.

Utterly humiliating for South Africa.

No bowlers, batting falling to pieces, heading for an innings defeat and undoubtedly a 4-0 whitewash in the series.

Hashim Amla is a magnificent player, but he's not a captain.

Superb from England, but I've had to turn it off since I'm sick of watching fat pink blokes in football shirts with their fat pink wives. Thank feck I arrive in Cape Town next Sunday and many of them will be gone.

That's why God gave us TMS.

Agree about Amla; being dropped from the captaincy will do both him and SA a favour.

Ridiculous from Stokes today. Switched the TV on at 9 expecting him to either be out or close to a century only to find out he'd scored over 50 in the first half hour of the day and was already in the 120s. Amazing batting from him and Bairstow to score 300ish in 3 hours. SA's bowling was poor but not sure where you could have bowled to Stokes in that form.

Amla making a decent fist of the reply so far though.

If you like cricket, I'd advise everyone to try to get to a game at Newlands. Simply one of the finest spots in the sporting world.

I went for a one day game there a few years ago.....marvelous weather, superb views, 50p Castle lagers and unlimited donuts on sale. Newlands itself is one of the best suburbs of Cape Town.

The wife gave up after 4 hours but I could have stayed there for days and days.

Newlands is spectacular, and I'd like to go some day, but I think in aesthetic terms it's beaten by Dharamsala in India.

As far as the tests go though, I agree that Amla could do with passing the captaincy on. De Villiers perhaps, although he'd need to give up the keeping permanently as well, which may be no bad thing tbh, or du Plessis. They're a bit short after that, South Africa have struggled for a captain since Graeme Smith retired.

60 needed to avoid the follow on. Getting a comfortable draw here would feel like a win for South Africa, always does if the team batting first puts a huge score up.

118-6 with an hour till tea. If SA can knock them over for 140-150 they'll have a swing at that for a couple of hours. Moeen and Bairstow in atm, Broad can also bat but Anderson and Finn are rabbits.
