:ok:

I was kinda hoping he would be pro Corbyn and on the opposite side of McTernan

He was !

I don't think you need to be on the same side as McTernan to be considered a dick by a Labour Party member . The comrade I asked was part of LFI, his "dick" could have been nationalistic... His answer, not his penis.

And who instigated that discussion and why do you think they did ?

He was clearly taken aback when the question was posed and didnt really know how to answer it suggesting he is not as much as a marxist as the BBC would like to make out

Hard to believe that any self respecting Marxist would have anything to do with the Labour party.

I have missed the last few weeks due to work and holidays... just watched Corbyn on Marr and was amazed by how much he seemed to be spouting the common weal of 2012...

nothing original but what bothered me was his chit-chat about Marx - what really ?

a bit Rik Mayell 1983...

not a serious player, was hoping for Syriza, turned out to be SSP

Policy wise there's a lot of similarities between them. Corbyn just is a bit older with a beard.

Utterly pointless electing Corbyn. The UK and the Labour Party itself don't have the stomach for the fight to achieve what he believes in. He's by far best candidate, but these days, for every Corbyn there's 100 McTernan's.

In positions of power within the party, i agree. This leadership contest however shows that within the party a sa whole, that simply isn't the case. People high up in the party care about power and winning elections. Many ordinary members care about traditional Labour values.

This is it in a nutshell, spot on.

And this is why Labour voters are deserting the party and the "soft" Tory voters they are chasing will never trust them.

Labour are finished and they brought it on themselves.

I could argue electing Corbyn as leader is the start of ordinary members reclaiming their party.

You'd like to think so. Whatever your political view I think both Scotland and the UK need a strong and principled Labour Party. I fear however that electing Corbyn might just be too little too late and I have little doubt it would be the start of internal wrangling so great as to blow the party apart.

The 'power at all costs' element within Labour Party these days are too many in number to allow the party to reclaim its traditional ground and I wonder now if the traditional labour voter will ever trust them again.

If Corbyn does win the leadership race (against an almighty powerful machine hell bent on preventing him doing so) then those at the helm will do everything they can to undermine him. The irony is they won't begin to understand the real damage that would do.

You could argue that it's utterly pointless for them to elect anybody. The Tories will win the next 2 elections without having to try very hard. That means another 15 years of Tory rule. If your user name is anywhere near accurate then you'll be past caring by then.

I'm pretty sure neither of them have ever claimed to be Marxists.

One of them has a parody based on them using the term "SexySocialism" that has become so viral that many the mentalist believe it applies. That parody creator WILL be remembered come the revolution*.

*With a heavy heart as it is pretty damn funny. Sadly there's just so many thick folk in Scotland that it's become dangerous.

With the final count at 18 CLP's last night Corbyn has finished top in Scotland as well as England and Wales... There goes my Scotland are right and Englan 7 Wales are Left angle :wink2:

It is funny, though, that UK Labour could soon have its most radical leader in over 30 years, and Scottish Labour have a choice between two fairly bland, identikit, New Labour types.
