Just been watching BBC news report on police questioning of suspects in Portugal. First of all the reporting is disgraceful - BBC trying as far as they can to insinuate that Robert Muhrat is responsible . Where is the evidence to back this up apart from the fact that he was a suspect. Surely the main suspect would have been a bit closer to home but I think there is a complete Establishment cover up going on here for some reason - why on earth waste so called scarce police resources on this wild goose chase.

Interesting this guy being back in the frame the same day there was an excellent drama on ITV about "suspect" in the murder of that Joanna girl in Bristol a few years ago - basically demonised by the press because he was a bit eccentric when he had nothing to do with the murder. Our media are a disgrace, and not just when it comes to murder suspects - their treatment of some anti-establishment politicians is equally reprehensible.

A few years back i spent a bit looking into this, seems pretty shady to me, and not in the context of the the Portuguese being shit at investigations.

My wife was at an 'at risk Children' conference about a month ago through her work, and a polis woman started talking about the McCann case, being very critical, and hinting that the UK police were not convinced at all with the McCann's themselves. Which I thought was pretty unprofessional to be talking about! Dunno if she was speaking out of turn, or just giving her own opinion on what she'd read in the papers, or how much she would actually know.

I have some Portugese friends and they've blamed police incompetence from the start. One of my friends is a lawyer who's been working on Casa Pia case for years now and always told me Portugal is not a destination for families with young children. I have no idea what happened but I don't think the McCann's are guilty, we live in country where children are raped every day with impunity so if they are involved in some sort of child rape ring then they could have given up their daughter easily without any publicity. I think they were guilty of being like many, many modern parents, study, build a career, decide to have children, can't, receive IVF. have children, refuse to change lifestyle to suit children rather than themselves, go on holidays and instead of risk screaming children at table leave them in hotel, etc.

All of this is just my own personal view as no one apart from the guilty know what really happened.

:ok:

Would like to add, those who were interviewed this time were NOT interviewed as suspects.

And it's wrong to think her parents had something to do with their daughter going missing.

Well - they did in the sense that they shouldn't be leaving a four(?) year old girl alone in an unlocked apartment. Surely that's child negligence - not giving a child, that young, supervision.

Yes, they made a big mistake. They are being punished for it every day. I honestly can't imagine how anyone copes with their child going missing and never being found. Makes me sad even thinking about it.

They still won't admit they made a mistake in leaving their kids home alone though! Unbelievable.

Anyway - wot I reckon:

A couple of days after she disappeared, the McCanns met with a local priest. Not sure if it was a proper 'Confession', in the Catholic sense of the word, but said priest subsequently would have nothing to do with them.

Would love to know what they told him...

Then in the police interviews in the immediate aftermath, when most normal couples would be giving as much info as possible to aid in the hunt for their child, the McCanns kept answering 'no comment' to the majority of the questions.

It stinks.

My faither died when I was 2, so my maw took me everywhere. An auld Mannie tried to grab me on the beach in Aberdeen, and my maw kicked phuqq oot him. Whatever happened, it's bloody heartbreaking, but they should never have left the kids on their own.

A woman tried to abduct me in blackpool when I was about 3 or 4. I was with my mum and family in a department store. If someone is set on taking a child they will regardless of whether the child is left alone or not. Until we know the facts of that night in Portugal we all need to stop judging the McCann's parenting. We all do stupid stuff as parents and I can't hang them out to dry without knowing the facts.

I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who was left outside the pub with a packet of crisps and a cola.
